Just be patient Lil Nicky will run his course in the next 2-3 years and then the new "Mike Dubose, Ron Zook or Mike Shula" will return. The meltdown in Gumpland will be epic and all the more enjoyable. No good coach ever wants to follow the "legend" i.e. Ron Zook

Les Miles will be gone at LSU before Lil Nicky leaves BAMA.

Are any of you old enough to even remember Mike Dubose as a coach or recruiter? Those weren't his downfalls. His off-the-field actions and inability to be a strong leader were.

Explain the 3-8 season then.

I did. His lack of overall leadership led to outside influences, and bad relationships within the coaching staff. I never stated he wasn't a bad coach. But as I've stated many times in this thread, his coaching ability and recruiting approach were not his downfall. But, leadership is a major part of being a head coach. No question about that.

Not angry at all, just amazed that you cant see that he was the most terrible coach we have had in the last half century. I thought you had better football sense than that man.

Some of you dont remember Dubose very well. He won an SEC title based on Stallings last good recruiting class. X's & O's? His only year at defensive coordinator Stallings worst statistical defense, including Stallings first year when he went 7-5. Dubose couldnt recruit particularly well nor could he coach.

the funny thing is, our worst coaches in the last half century still managed an SEC title (Dubose) and a top 10 finish (Dubose and Shula). how many other programs can say that?

In a sense, this was what I was trying to argue after making my initial points in this thread. I never suggested Mike Dubose was a great coach, just not has horrible as some people want to make him out to be. Of course, his legacy will always be defined by what he didn't do. That's keep the over-aggressive boosters at arm's length.

A weak coach hired by a weak president and shady athletic director. what fricking president or AD listen to damn fans when it comes to hiring a coach? I mean really?

Was the Debose hire worse than the hiring of Ray Goff

It just goes to show you that for it all to be successful, you have to have strong leadership in the presidency, A.D.'s office, and at head coach.

Hard to say. Goff was 500 or below half his years at Georgiqa, as was dubose. goff has two top 25 finishes, one top 10 while dubose only had one top ten, but dubose won the sec and goof couldnt do that. Plus, Dubose beat Florida twice. In the same year. Goof couldnt have done that had he sold his sould to satan. However, Goof didnt get his team put on life support by the ncaa. They both sucked pretty bad, i guess is what im getting at!

So, you feel qualified to comment on the quality of a coach who was fired before you ever got a fricking driver's license?

The truth is that the guy was a terrible head coach, a terrible administrator, a fricking awful recruiter and he personally invited Logan Young back into the program after Stallings had banished him.

God, I hate people as fricking stupid as you.

Dubose fricked up the 1994 SEC Championship game against UF by putting in his swiss cheese defense. Dubose was a good defensive line coach but should have never advanced into the D/C role.

Now, run along. Don't come into threads this late in the game and start commenting about my intentions, you piece of shite. How about you read the entirety of it?

dubose wasn't made defensive coordinator until 1996.

In 1994, we lost because stallings, in the most baffling coaching decision ive ever seen, elected to kick the extra point and go up 23-17 instead of 24-17. We lost 24-23. We lost 45-30 in 1996.

I read it, and you're dumb enough to believe the guy was a decent coach because he rode Alexander and Samuels to the SECCG when you were in junior high school.

He was awful, and was only hired because so many of the good ol' boy losers still held so much influence. There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING positive about what that fricking loser did as a head coach. I cringe every time I think about that moron on the sidelines.
