Are the expectations to be undefeated? If they are, I am a little bit dubious of his ability to do that. He hasn't done it yet, but you never know. Next year may set up well for him and he may break the drought.

Easy for you do do now. LSU has a decent QB next year.
It's not about the talent, that's a given.
I don't follow Metterburger. How much has he played?
What's your prediction? Championship?

The way I see it, they can respond like the Alabama 2009 team after the great 2008 season which fell just short
Fell pretty short to Utah as I recall

1. The 2009 Bama team was responding to the 2008 season which started well and ended on a sour note.
2. The 2010 Bama team was responding to a perfect season.
I'd say the 2012 LSU situation has a lot more in common with the first scenario.

ok... then who wins the west?

yea this year is actually pretty comparable to bama 08.
bama 08 was a bit ahead of where they expected and then it fell off so it defiantly stung a good bit.
LSU this year people said we could go undefeated but we also had people saying 5 losses 1 year away. we dominate so well through 13 games then fall short in a tough situation but problem is we looked like arse clowns monday and wheels were coming off. Since yesterday mood has turned around in br and I think we respond as a fired up group that finishes the job.

They could also respond like Texas did in 2010. That would be terrible...

Obviously. But, in 2008 Alabama was very close to beating UF. If Hightower doesn't get a facemask penalty in the 4th quarter I think we win.
So LSU lost decisively, and it was after the unusual scenario of having to play somebody twice, and having to play and SEC opponent in the Championship game.
Because it was a big loss, and because it was a rematch I think LSU is at more risk of being a little deflated.
I completely understand the other point of view, that LSU's motivation will be super high.

Texas lost Colt Mccoy. We lose Jordan Jefferson. Colt Mccoy, Jordan Jefferson. I totally see the comparison. Thank you for opening my eyes.

Ahhh... but they thought they had the 5* stud in Garrett Gilbert.
They were really psyched for 2010.

Prior to this year, Miles would never lose less than 2 games in a season...
I dont think expectations are to be undefeated, at least for most realists. LSU can lose 1 and still win a NC.
