I hope so, but the biggest knock on him at WSU was him being too stubborn to change; remember the UW DC joking about how predictable his offense was

That is a bit out of context. The UW/WSU game in 2018 was snowy and windy. It hampered the plays WSU could run which made them predictable.

I doubt that is an issue for Leach in SEC play.

Evidently you are to young or don't remember the JLD defenses.

I will say it again.... This time with even more current history..

- MSU recruits well on the defense side of the ball.
- They have had great defenses in recent history because they recruit well

= the 3-3-5 is one of the best defenses to run when you lack talent and size. It's even more lethal when you do.

It seems too many people have either forgotten it of have never seen it in action.

Does that mean the kid is a great coach with it? No. That's left to be seen.

I dont know anything about MSU's defense, I'm simply replying to the other poster with the differences in Leach's philosophy vs what LSU did last season.

I don't know that throwing 50 passes a game is the best strategy when you'll be playing against some of the best secondary units in the country but that remains to be seen.

I mean, last year LSU's passing defense was ranked 59th in terms of passing yards allowed per game. That's worse than Utah, Oregon, and Washington.

Okay?

I think everyone can agree that LSU had a down year defensively in 2019.

My point is that more often than not, SEC defensive backs will be better than the receivers State puts out there.

That is, unless Leach really ramps up recruiting.

LSU also led the country in passing percentage completion allowed

Texas is a fertile ground for HS recruiting, and the Mad Pirate knows it well from his Texas Tech Red Raider days.

I do think it could take several years on offense

Who the hell takes several years to get an offense going? You either have an effective scheme or you do not. With these players, some things are going to improve immediately. The offense will get better and better as season one gets going.

You are still Miss State. You are fighting for 4th in the West year in, year out.

When is the last time you saw rain alter play calling? Fields don't have puddles, the balls no longer get waterlogged, receivers have gloves that are designed to perform in wet conditions, etc. If footing is an issue, it favors the offense because they know where they are going whereas the defensive player has to react.
