Comes with the terriotory when you have a wanted coach usually.

Of course interest comes with the territory, but tanking good seasons over it is not a good trait.

Kiffin was taking the Florida Atlantic job and became too distracted in Saban’s view to continue to serve as OC at Alabama.

Crazy. Almost like every other instance of someone leaving to take a head coaching job before a bowl game….

Lane even offering to OC the national championship game was him trying to do a favor. Schools don’t want to wait to rebuild their program on some other programs convenience.

You’re prebuilding the excuse for this season on this Florida rumor while completely ignoring the fact that our offensive line and defense are arse. If we don’t make the playoffs, those are why. Neither unit come ANYWHERE close to playoff caliber. The fact that the offense(Kiffin’s) has us at 6-1 and top 10 in ever poll speaks to his coaching.

He is not an elite coach but he is not at an elite program either.

If memory serves, he lost to The Pirate on and off the field (recruiting class and Egg Bowl) in his last season before he passed.

That doesn’t really say anything. Leach was building a solid program at MSU and rivalry games are wacky. Our offensive line that year was so dogshit we had to put in our nose tackle in goal line situations.

And recruiting rankings back then(and still now) are pretty dogshit with the new portal situation.

I don't consider Freeze an elite coach by any stretch of the imagination. And he did things that brought embarrassment to Ole Miss. At least Cut was a decent human being.

My brother-in-law was a team captain at Ole Miss. He was there during some hard times, mostly under Cooper and Sloan, but he was on the team that beat Notre Dame in Jackson.

If you allow Vaught to lose 3 games a year and still consider that great, he'd have like 12 seasons in a row.

My point was that Vaught was great...and still 3-year 10-win streaks were rare. At Tennessee, Bob Neyland only did it once (1938-1940), Bill Battle only did it once (1970-1972), and Phil Fulmer only did it once (actually a 4 year streak 1995-1998).

But the point was also that nobody has ever done it at Ole Miss, regardless of how many games they play in a season. If Kiffin does it this season it will be the first time EVER in the program's history.
