Bo Nix was 13-31 last night which from a stat perspective looks afwul. But he had at least 6-7 throwaways. By escaping the pocket and throwing the ball away your helping your team but they hurt your stats. Anybody else ever feel like this for QB stats?

Stats can be deceiving if looked at in a vacuum, especially for small sample sizes.

His throwaways were something stidham never did and cost us bad sacks. He didn’t have a stellar game but my main takeaway was he makes much better decisions that what we’ve had in the past.

I mean if we're splitting hairs here, would dropped interceptions be a pet peeve also in your book. Oregon drought 2 last night.

Bo will develop into a very nice QB, but he missed several easy throws. It was a few times Whitlow snuck into flats not a defender within 5 yards.

Throwaways shouldn’t be allowed anyway. If you drop back to pass and you can’t find an open guy, you should have to take your lumps. Risk/reward.

Could care less about QB stats. Everything is situational anyway. A win is a win.

I hate a turnover for a td and a kickoff or punt return for a td counts against the defense’s points allowed.

Yes, his throwaways prevented a sack for a loss. But they also prevented him from standing tall and delivering the ball to an open man. I’m sure there was nobody open on many of those throws but there had to be a couple where he could have delivered a strike for a big play. The announcers mentioned he took his first sack since his junior year in high school 2 years ago. 1 sack in 2 years? How much of that is being a smart game manager and how much of it is just being a pussy that doesn’t want to take a hit?

I think Tua could have done himself a favor by making more throwaways last season. It would have affected his QB rating maybe but it would have been more skillful to do so in certain situations rather than trying to make something happen when it's not there.

With that mind and I'm not saying that Bo Nix won't be good, great QBs can make plays happen when they don't seem to be there. Nix will probably move into that category down the road. He is a sound QB for wheree he is at the moment which is a freshman QB. He seems to be a likable player. Dude didn't quit. I enjoyed watching him play last night.

That was our main complaint with Hurts. He was too quick the throw the ball away if there wasn’t a receiver wide open directly in front of him. “Hurts roll to his right, approach LOS, throw ball into stands” was our main offensive play for most of 2017.

This was Joey B last year...more drops than throw-aways, but his stats were skewed through no fault of his own.

This led to the numbers coming no where close to describing his value as a QB.
