Right...saying things like "we have a new rival...Ala-fricking-bama" with foam spraying out of his mouth. Real coach speak there

Doesn't appear as though all of the OP's fanbase feels the same way.

Les Miles = Jim Tressel

Playing thugs turning the other way... Yes I see similarities between Tressel and Miles...
RTR!!!
quote:
So was Tressel. I think that is what Tom is alluding to. Win at all costs.
quote:
Yep...
No way Saban plays the thugs Jefferson or Matthieu.
quote:
Tressell, or Miles?
Oh wait - its BOTH.
Both cheated and won a lot of games (and NC's) by looking the other way at players who shouldn't have been on the field. That's sorta what occurred to me last night.
How are they really that different? Tress played Clarrett (one example among many) when he knew Clarrett was driving a new car provided by a booster - only kicked him off the team when the MEDIA found out about it. Miles is playing a guy who WOULD be in jail for Felony Assault if he wasn't an LSU football player - and three thugs who are illegal drug users. Miles is also in bed with street agents like Will Lyles, so if Miles isn't directly paying players, he's at least willing to pay FOR players.
Am I wrong?
quote:
You are not wrong Tom. The only LSU player I have a problem with is Jefferson and you are exactly right, if he was not a LSU player, he would probably still be in jail. The only reason he is playing now is Miles knew he could not win every game with Lee.
Winning alone does not a good coach make.
quote:
I think there are many posters on this board who have questioned this many times. You obviously missed all of the threads concerning the Jefferson and 3 pot smokers issues. Of course all predicted those players would all be playing at some point. That is the difference between Coach Saban and Miles.
quote:
Well, you are right and I can't deny it. Its sour grapes. And I suppose I'm a poor sport to be saying this.
But as much as it sucks to lose a game we really SHOULD have won, to me, it sucks 10 times WORSE when you know your opponent is cheating. We know Les is in bed with Street agents. We know that Jordan Jefferson would be in the Angola penitentiary right now if he was Jordan Smith - a factory worker, and he committed the same crime in Baton Rouge.
Its just like losing to *ubarn last year.
When Florida beat us in Dec. 2008, I didn't have near the same feelings. I knew our guys played as well as they could have, and I knew that Florida (at least compared to most other SEC Teams) was a reasonably clean program. There were no questionable calls EITHER WAY by the refs - no blatant attacks on our players by the UF team. Just a great game that we lost. And I was ok with that.
Every year it just gets tougher and tougher to love this sport.
quote:
Words Fail me.
This is a coach who buys players from street agents, and has assistant coaches slipping improper benefits to recruits. Don't believe me? Just read the NCAA reports on infractions, and major media stories about Will Lyles' involvement with LSU.
And you'd want THAT to coach at Alabama? We'd be on Probation- and probably the Death Penalty if any coach did those things at UA!!!!
Sorry, I greatly "appreciate" Miles tremendous ability to overcome ethics and NCAA rules to Win at any cost. But I can't respect that!!!!
Les is Jim Tressell in a ball cap. He's figured out how to say nice things while sticking a knife in your back. Tyrann matthieu says his coaches taught him how to punch other players in the back of the neck to take them out of plays. Is that how you want Alabama to play?

You would, if you did the research, discover that Les dishes out high praise for every opponent after the game. His standard line is, "It was a privilege to play against such a fine opponent." He learned that (among other things) from Bo. When asked about a rematch (he didn't bring it up, the reporter did), of course he would say, "It would be an honor to play against that team if circumstances threw us together." Doesn't mean that's his preference. Or that he even gives a sh*t. He's just a classy guy. Kind of like the Alabama coach--of the 1960s.

You have obviously never watched a Les Miles interview/ Press conference
Now if he would have said "I have a want to play Bama again if their was happenstance to do so" then it might be him truely saying that
Nobody has yet to tell me how Bama would prove themselves more deserving of the BCS title if they beat us in the championship game. We would split the season series and our win would be more impressive since it was a true road game. Also We would have won the SEC in that situation so we would of had the better season that Bama. I dont see how you can say "hey this team is better that this team" If they split the games and one team just happened to win the last one

Irony = Any bama fan that accuses anyone else of cheating.

A good bit of Tiger fans out there including me didn't care for him, so it's not only you, but I could understand the oppositions disdain toward him. I must now say the man has earned my respect, I thought he was a mad scientist like others, and although he still calls crazy stuff now and then, he always mmanages to come out on top something you must admit is hard to do in nowadays. Here's to you coach Miles!!

Agreed. If it happens, we take the BCS and you guys can have the AP. I'm fine with a split title.

I've joked about this before, but I just don't see Saban at this point in his career- and life- looking for any more change.
The man is 60 years old, and won't be in the coaching game forever. He needs to stay put for his own good, and one day retire to his place on 'the lake'.
Paterno will go- certainly this year. I'd rather see Meyer to Penn St, and Saban stay at Bama. He's good for the SEC.
Just my .02.....

here is my only reason for not playing a rematch, the loser (Bama) of Saturday has a better/easier path to NCG because LSU was to win out and would have to play in the SEC Championship game the additional risk for LSU to hurt an impact
player(s) where as the loser does not. So in theroy the winner has subject to more risk and loser is rewarded for their loss.

Didn't your momma teach you life isn't fair? One of life's earliest lessons most Tigah fans didn't seem to learn.
