In over 20 years of coaching no team ever wanted to hire him as OC or promote him to OC until Elko did after he signed his new contract.

If Elko did it to keep Reed or because he thought Reed couldn’t learn a new offense then Elko is either an idiot or started to push for the Jimbo retirement strategy right after he got new contract.

A&M needed to bring in true competition at QB, but at a minimum Reed needed an upgrade at QB/OC with proven experience to help him get better and stop disappearing against good defenses. Elko went the opposite route.
