Any title won by any team prior to the point where big money was being made off of it is pointless. It's like the northern schools bragging about their tennis records to the southern schools. Who gives a frick.

I guess that means you should stop idolizing Billy Cannon. Especially since it was before big money and integration.

So you might as well stop jerking off to a criminal.

Saban 45-Auburn 7 This ten year run in Tuscaloosa has nothing to do with the University of Alabama. It's all Saban, and hopefully it ends soon. I believe Kirby Smart may whip Saban's munchkins arse this year.

Generally, having a good coach is a massive part of what makes your football team good. If it weren't, why wouldn't teams just hire anybody to fill the role? LSU has sort of done that with Coach O now that I think about it.

Also, Bama won before Saban.

ou mean the Alabama that has had a NC in every decade since the 1920s except for the 1950's?

Your point is taken, but let's not fabricate things by moving the 1979 title into the 1980s. It was the 1979 title, period. Plus the 1980 trophy resides in Athens, Georgia.

It's all Saban

Except that if you take out the 10 years of Saban Alabama still wins the SEC championship at a much higher rate than any other current SEC team:

Bama with Saban: 26 in 84 years - 31%

Bama (w/o Saban): 21 in 74 years - 28.4%
Next best UT: 13 in 84 years - 15.5%

As a matter of fact if you wipe out Saban AND Bryant (so 35 years of the best part of Bama's SEC history), Alabama STILL wins the SEC championship at a higher rate than any other current SEC team:

Bama: 8 in 49 years - 16.3%
Next best UT: 13 in 84 years - 15.5%

That's right even without those two legendary coaches and their 35 years of dominance Alabama still wins this league at a higher rate than any other team. Just a little historical perspective for you.

Actually their recent success in football coincides with massive investment/expansion of the university in the last 10 years. Their student population has doubled. Football is a reflection of that.

LSU has taken the opposite approach and it shows.
