Arkansas came up where EVERYBODY was the enemy. Everybody was in "the other state" and had some kind of common culture and identity that we didn't claim. That led to kind of a "frick everybody" and "we're outsiders and we like it that way" mentality.
This is true. As late-comers, Arky had it particularly rough.
It might be time for the rest of us to face the possibility that this is a monster we've created.
Scary thought!

I think it is a monster that Texas created.

The SWC created...
You can probably thank the Nutt scandal, and the fact that it played out on the internet on a daily basis for the proliferation of Arkansas message board posters and fan sites.
You had to be a message-boarder to know what was happening because the media wasn't covering it. So we got a huge base of internet fans in a short period of time.
It means we have a lot of savvy internet posters, but we also have EVERYBODY in our fanbase online.

Ah, excellent points. Texas and the SWC certainly created it, though I can't say that the original SEC member institutions didn't play a part in feeding the (Internet, at least) monster.

Still awake, but not for much longer. It seems that the first wave of the storm has missed me entirely. I don't plan on staying awake till the second band makes it over.
Night everybody. Anyone still in the path of the storm, stay safe.
