Arkansas is a special case.
While every team has "that guy," Arkansas was a dumpster fire for SO long that once they finally started to turn the corner, it was like a dehydrated man to an oasis in the desert.
Decades of pent-up frustration bounced free, and they're still letting off steam.
LSU just happened to be the closest logical 'outlet' for a lot of that, and so a rivalry seemed to be forced.
If it happened to State, we'd probably see much the same thing.

Nah, State is too busy putting billboards in Oxford.
ETA: evenin' NA.

State would be much worse you saw how they got during last off season. If it happened to Ole Miss Jesus would return the day before we clinch the west.

Also, while taking the 'good' variable into consideration, also think about who our two most bitter rivals are, and just how bitter those rivalries have are.
Auburn and Tennessee, though our rivalry with Tennessee has cooled a lot.
Now I realize that LSU has begun to supplant Tennessee as our chief out-of-state rival, and from a competitive standpoint that is certainly true.
But in terms of history between the two programs, LSU has a lot of ground yet to cover there. I think that's why you see a lot of Alabama fans who still either like LSU (like I do) or just sort of feel ambivalent about them.

Well, Ole Miss actually has been there before, even though it's been... what feels like centuries. I think Ole Miss might actually be able to handle it.
State, though? If they snuck in a BCSNC win, I think the entire fanbase would have a collective orgasm, and it would all be directed at every one of our faces.

I am a closet Bama fan. I pull for y'all when you aren't playing LSU. Tbh, some of the Bama posters here make me want to change my opinion, but I can see past that.

I feel as if you had too much pleasure typing that statement out.
ETA: I'm a closet State fan like Pox, but I keep it in the closet better than she does. She lets her closet State fandom out too much imo. It feels like she is cheating on the Tigers and I am uncomfortable knowing this.

Technically speaking it's been a half century but who's counting right?

Pox has a reason to pull for state. That's all I'm gonna say, but trust me.

My dad is a State grad, so that is my reason.

I'm 100% LSU, except for the occasional closet Bama that appears in moments of darkness.

Yeah, fortunately a lot of those posters don't last long. Most of us are nice.

Perhaps, but not in the way you might think. I enjoy coming up with metaphors, and that one was particularly fun to write.

Nothing wrong with pulling for State. Hell, I pull for them half the time because I think it would be refreshing if they became formidable for a change.
I just worry that their hardline fanbase would short-circuit if they went too far too fast.

If you guys could just hire a decent coach, who knows...

I know. I have met a few Bama posters from here irl and they are awesome.

Same, I just keep up with State. I don't really have much preference if they win or lose, but I do keep track of what they are doing more than any other team (outside of LSU).

My father would disown me otherwise.
