You don't attack it, you lay down and take it like a man.

I would pass early and often in the first half just to attack the secondary and show the receivers I have faith in their abilities. If that worked I would just try to ride on that and short runs the rest of the game

You do exactly what UGA did to Saban-coached LSU back in 2004. You burn the island corners for quick points and force the offense out of its comfort zone which usually leads to more turnovers.

While I am not trying to downplay what a great, great defense Bama had this year, it also has to be said that I am not sure they played one really balanced offense which had the same calibre athletes as their defense. Hell, I am not entirely sure there was a balanced offense in the SEC this year. For every team, either the QB or the WRs or the RBs sucked. Bama's offense was balanced enough, but more than anything they were able to ride the coattails of the defense.

With this defense there just wasn't a whole lot any offense could do. This is one of or maybe the best defense in the modern football era.

Have an elite WR and elite QB that can just make plays. Also, an offensive line with at least 2 pro prospects would be key.

It never really showed up this year, but at times Bama has had breakdowns in coverage. Going into the LSU game the thing that scared me most was Rueben Randle, even though they shut him down in the first game.

It would almost take an NFL type team; a good Big OL, accurate QB,good WR's and a power RB but most of all you would have to beat them by playing good defense or atleast as good as they played on the defensive side of the ball. You put a good passing QB on the 2011 LSU team and it's close at the end in the BCSNCG but with no respect for the LSU passing game it left you one demensional and predictable.

Pass, and pass often.

Screen passes, wheel routes, any type of passes.....Pass some more.

Also hope that you have a decent OL or the DL will be on the QB all game.

We were pretty balanced. Of course, we wouldn't be playing our defense, either.

Slow down cowboy. You didn't have to shut down any offense in the top 20. Bama's D was legit, no doubt, but it wasn't in the same stratosphere as Bama '92 or Miami '01.

The 2001 Miami TEAM was amazing, no doubt. That defense was extremely soft against the run though, like all of Miami's hyper-talented defenses in the early 2000's, but they had tons of playmakers and were insane against the pass.

Alabama's defense was more disciplined and fundamentally sound, and nearly impossible to run on.

Just two different kinds of defenses.

In the end Ed Reed, Jonathan Vilma, D.J. Williams, and Phillip Buchanon were the players that panned out in the NFL. Very impressive, no doubt, but Alabama's 2011 D has several players that look like legit future NFL starters too.

I disagree with all of the posts favoring passing offenses.

Here are the passing attempts of each team that has defeated Alabama since 2008:
2008 Florida - 22
2008 Utah - 41
2010 South Carolina - 20
2010 LSU - 20
2010 Auburn - 20
2011 LSU - 17

So out of the past 6 losses, only one opponent attempted more than 22 passes. I do not think throwing the ball is the answer here.

The point is that you really have to out-rush Alabama to beat them. And considering Alabama's success against the rush these past four years, that makes quite a lot of sense.

I believe Gary Danielson brought this up a few times during broadcasts.
