Malzahn needs to hold out for a better job IMO. I have a gut feeling he's going to be a great, great coach for some lucky program that picks him up. Like another Urban Meyer/Chip Kelly type.

Really though it's not a terrible job.

Vandy will give him time to build, and they won't expect immediate results.

+ it's not very high pressure.

For the money that's being reported it's a damn good job.

There are a lot of positives in this job for Malzahn.

read elsewhere that the offer is $1.6MM base with $1.4MM in incentives

not quite as sweet as originally thought; it'd be on the lower end of SEC coaching pay.

Word in Nashville is that Martha Ingram is willing to pay whatever it takes to get him.

Very powerful lady

Those of you who doubted and flamed; prepare yourselves for a pride-obliterating bitch slap...in front of the entire SEC Rant.

Malzahn will excel in any program he chooses, IMO. But I don't want him to go to Vandy. We've already lost State as a gimme. Do we really want to see our teams get a yearly handful with Vandy?

That's part of the beauty, though. Vandy rotates off of Arkansas' Eastern division opponent schedule this coming season-- and as a bonus, is Ole Miss' permanent Eastern Rival. Essentially, it'll be 5 years before we see Vandy again, and by then Gus is probably on to a different job at a better program, after he spends a few years kicking Hooter in the teeth.
