Arkansas has long been my least favorite team as well for a similar reason. Growing up, I would get double the texts, phone calls, and facebook posts after Arkansas beat LSU compared to my birthday. I'm definitely a minority though. I'm working in Texas now, and I'm pretty amazed how in 5 years time A&M has went from a school I really knew nothing of to a fanbase I loathe nearly equally as much. I think they will likely surpass Arkansas in my mind soon as the current downfall of both of our programs coupled with the increased maturity of me and my hog friends has led to the hatred subsiding (although you guys sometimes find a way to piss me off on here ). I imagine once A&M finds a way to beat us it will happen. They already act like they have a vastly superior program, so I cant imagine what it will be like if they ever actually have tangible results to base this sense of superiority off of.

Yeah, I'll admit I'm using a rather broad stroke despite not really being able to attest about NW Arkansas as I've only been there 4 times or so. I grew up just West of Jonesboro (insert slight here). I've been pretty amused of the rising ASU fandom and disdain for UA from a loud minority though. One of the hog fans that I butt heads with the most goes to ASU and loathes them. He hopes they lose every game and I can't help but be amused. I can't really imagine being in his shoes and hating my own soon-to-be alma mater. I nearly went to UA as I had a full ride offer and maybe even then some with the stipends, but I think I would've eventually learned to cheer for them. I'm not sure what would have happened to my LSU fandom as I would have felt like an illegitimate fan and somewhat of a bandwagoner.

Huh?

We have the top two returning tacklers and the most productive DT in the conference.
We return 6 of our back 7.

ASU has the worst case of lil bro syndrome in the country. It's pretty pathetic. I feel bad for anybody in Jonesboro. That place just flat out sucks. When Memphis is the only nearby place to "visit" you know you're in a shithole. NWA 4 lyfe

Believe me as an Arkansas fan, we know, we are still waiting as well, but we know.

The ASU-Arkansas relationship is very similar to the ULL-LSU relationship so I feel your pain. And yeah, Jonesboro is basically a cultural wasteland but you never really realize that until you move away.

In Central/South Arkansas you will find people with a less than kind attitude towards LSU.

I'm in central/southeast Arkansas and not really any hatred towards LSU. We have tons of transplants here from Katrina so I interact more with LSU than any other school, other than Arkansas, and swamp asses like to drink and have a good time so as they like to say "they're good people"

There is only one school I truly hate and that is Texas & that's from growing being told to hate Texas.

I've noticed a significant rise in tension between y'all and A&M as well as Auburn over the past 2 years or so.

Yeah, they have these vast conspiracy theories that Broyles kept them from earning academic accreditation for fear of the uprising of their football program.

None of which is true, they were DII forever when it was policy to no play DII schools so Arkansas didn't play them UCA, Tech, or the other DII schools in the state.

They had like one really good year in the 70s and convinced themselves Arkansas was too scared to play them. When they finally moved up to D1 after the split in the 80s (D1-AA) they thought Arkansas should play them every year to help build their program up, same when they moved to D1-A in the 90s.

They bitched about it being unfair we play games in WMS, so they tried 10 years ago playing Okie State in LR, they didn't sell enough tickets to pay the fricking rent and WMS cancelled their contract, which of course they blame Arkansas for.

Arkansas set up a series with OU and Okie state in Verizon Arena for basketball we would play one, stAte would play the other in a double header for four years (each played the other Oklahoma schools twice), again stAte couldn't sell enough tickets to pay their end of the rent and Arkansas ended up having to buyout them out of the contract, pay their rent, and play out the remainder of the contract at Verizon (against OSU) we ended up with a shite ton of home and away games with OU as a result (who the frick wants to go to Norman?).

But it was only because Arkansas does everything in their power to hold them back.

I love a good diehard ASU fan. The Gus debacle was great and very entertaining as well.

It has to do with forgetting, then being reminded of their unwarranted arrogance.

They had the entire rant believing the were something and such a traditional power when compared to Arkansas, which isn't true, I think they have men's tennis over us, but that about it, all the advantages none of the results.

Similar to OU and interactions, it seems Armani Ronnie handed out Auburn gear with the bibles a few years back. So strange interacting with people who worship a false prophet such as this, and of course he is at one of two fan bases in the SEC who would exhibit worship of the same fashion...

Yeah.

To hear them talk they were the second best team in the state and always have been, Tech was the better of the three when all were on the DII level, stAte and UCA moved up, while Tech has doubled enrollment since those days, setting new records each year, I doubt they try to make the move to FCS, they are a good DII program.

What the die hard stAte fans fail to mention when talking about instate play is how the mighty stAte cancelled their series with UCA when the purple bears waxed that wolf one time.
