How the West will be won...

Alabama - Bama lost a good bit on defense, however, there was alot of depth on the front 7 that didn't get lost. Expect a great run defense, and for them to help the secondary, with a better pass rush this year. Won't be as good as last year, but it won't drop off much. Offense will have the best O-line around, a stout run game. Passing could/should be improved. Worst case scenario 10-2 regular season. 12-0 very possible.
Lsu - Will improve on offense, hard not to, assuming Miles allows it. Folks like to blame JJ, but it's the coaching decisions that's held the offense back. Defensive front will be stout. One of the best in the nation. Secondary, will be on par with last year, maybe some dropoff. Worst case scenario 10-2 regular season. 12-0 also very possible.
Arkansas - New coach, new play caller. Offense has the potential to be formidable, new WR's will have to step up. Play calling could be the difference this yr, as well as the young folks under pressure. Worst case 8-4 regular season. 10-2 possible.
Texas A&M - Sumlin is a good coach and will have talent on the offense to do some things. Michael is an underrated RB, but has to make it through a season without injury. Defense is going to have to improve. Maybe with new coaching it will. Worst case 6-6 regular season. 8-4 possible.
Auburn - More experienced than last year in many areas. However, QB is still a huge question. Doubtful many blowouts like last year, but still not where they need to be in Chiz's 4th year. O-line will be a work in process and secondary has alot to prove. Clemson game goes from a pick em to Au win, imo with suspension of Watkins. Worst case 6-6 regular season. 7-5 likely, 8-4 possible.
Miss St - Could shake things up in the 4-6 range of SEC W finish. Maybe enough talent to overtake Au and the Ags, but until they can show they can beat someone in the West, not named Ole Miss, they will remain in 6th spot.
Ole Miss - The Tennessee of the West

I think Arkansas is ahead of Auburn because of its offense and Auburn's new coordinators on both sides:
1a/1b = Bama/LSU
3 = Arkansas
4 = Auburn
5a/5b = A&M/MSU
7 = Ole Miss
1a/1b = Bama/LSU
3 = Arkansas
4 = Auburn
5a/5b = A&M/MSU
7 = Ole Miss

actually most Auburn fans are excited about the new secondary. Both starting safties beat out guys with alot more experience. Wrong angle McNeal got beat out. Therenzie could be great at the CB poistion.

Secondary is pretty talented and experienced now. Change it to linebackers and I'll agree with your analysis.

I agree with a lot of that.

LSU had the #1 scoring offense in the SEC last year...but yeah I know what you mean, throwing the ball. We'll have the #1 scoring offense again this year too, IMO.

You lost your top 4 receiving targets from last year. (Maze, Smelley, Richardson, Hanks, in that order).

Bama lost a good bit on defense
3 of 4 starting linebackers and 3 of 4 starting secondary.
