both qbs aren't really a loss, 2 of the 3 olinemen aren't big losses.
the linebackers aren't a big loss either
Of course not, they only start/play because they are seniors and it is Les thanking them for staying with the team.

After three years of bad QB play, no one else has stepped up for LSU. Finally, LSU sees somewhat of a consistent approach at QB in 2011. It happens to be from a pair of fifth-year seniors. It's not too uncommon to see that "jump" with a senior QB. Yet, their loss will be nothing? Come on. If Metteberger was as good as some LSU fans suggest, he would have pushed for more playing time. Even with the improved play at the position, it still has been inconsistent. LSU will still compete for a national title in 2012, but it's not set in stone like some LSU fan want to think.

actually both those linebackers listed have pretty much been replaced. nice try retard.
one of those linemen does nothing and the other gets spot starts for injured players.
the qbs have sr experience so it wouldn't be wise to just throw the soph in. I think mett could have won it this year esp with our offense is but im fine with him sitting a year learning and then taking over.

You and I both know that a majority of starting QBs in the nation could have done what Jarrett Lee did this year. Mett could be half as good as LSU fans think he will be and he'd still be twice as good as Lee or Jefferson.
We're upgrading from "F" graded QBs to probably a "B". That's going to be nice for LSU and it sucks for the rest of the country.

Well after a couple of Aubies and a bunch of LSU/Bama banter, I'll try and give a serious response.
A shitload.
Hightower, Upshaw, Barron, and Kirkpatrick are the heartbeat of the defense, on a team that feeds off the defense.
I don't think we'll ever be a team that wins a ton of game 31-28.
I'm sure much will be expected of the new coordinator coming in, but I expect much of the same thing. We'll hang our hat on a stable of runningbacks and let McCarron make some plays here and there. It seems like we've recruited 30 receivers the past three years and none of them have lived up to their hype or star ranking in my opinion. I imagine there will be 10 guys looking to take the spot left by Maze and Hanks.
We have to play Michigan, @ Arkansas, @ LSU, and possibly travel to Texas A&M and Missouri. It's an even numbered year which means the schedule is going to be quite a bit tougher than this year.
I was one of the few in 2010 saying that an 9 win season should be considered a success. I'll be saying the same thing about 2012.
I think 2013 is setting up to be a big year though, with AJ being a three year starter and some of the young talent that will have to play next year with another year under the belt.

The single biggest nod against Alabama entering the 2011 season was the role of a new starting QB. Yet, LSU should escape that criticism with a QB that has seen less snaps at the college level than A.J. McCarron did entering the season?

Mett has a higher ceiling and more ability than AJ does.

Could be huge losses since the current QB isn't good enough to beat out the other two that LSU has seen as "holding them back" the past few years.

Says who? Right now, Mett doesn't even have an argument.

Based on what?
His decision making abilities?
The snaps he received during this season?

A.J. passed for 2400 yards, a 67% completion percentage, and a 16-5 TD-Int ratio. What has Mettenberger done thus far? Does he have 12 career starts?

Show he could be the next Ben Rothlesburger (SP?) off the field?

He may very well be a great QB at LSU, but there's certainly nothing to suggest he's better than A.J. MaCarron right now. And there's nothing to suggest he'll make the LSU offense better in 2012. Of course neither of those factors are going to stop LSU from competing for a national title in 2012.

Damn...

I expect Mett to play about as well as AJ has. Not great, but not bad either.
