And the Harris Poll is made up of former college coaches, not liberal reformist like the AP. You think this helps your case?

This is correct. If Bama is #2, they play. Not winning the division or conference is just a hurdle. It's not impossible by ANY stretch. In fact, unless LSU and Okie St win out, I'd say it's looking likely at this point.

As a UGA fan, if Bama gets a shot when not even appearing in the SECCG, I would personally lead the pitchfork brigade to ESPN HQ after they made it their life's work to screw UGA over at the end of 2007.

I understand the frustration, but UGA is out of the NCG picture unless teams drop like flies like in '07. They absolutely might end up as the SEC champ, but those two losses aren't going to work for the NCG as it currently stands.

Bama has an OT loss to LSU. Even with that, their resume' is pretty stout. If an SEC team plays for the national title, it will be out of the West - regardless if they are the divisional or conference champ or not.

Helps what case? I'm just trying to state facts. I have no agenda in this case. Yes, I'm an LSU fan, but I'm just talking about the facts.

Never has a team which couldn't win its division play for the National Championshio, and that won't change.

Holy shite. An actual realistic LSU fan. I congratulate you sir on living in reality and not hiding behind your fears of a possible rematch. I salute you.

Everyone freely admits that Alabama and LSU are the two best teams, yet LSU and Auburn fans want to totally disregard that truth.

Has nothing to do with how the BCS works.

Two.

Yet, I'm told, this doesn't happen. What gives?

OU and Nebraska and they both lost.

He is still clinging on mythical fears. What's it like to lose in front of a record home crowd after your fans have declared that you could beat the Colts? Lsu would have far more to worry about from OK state, or even Oregon, than Bama. It's funny to see you talk your team up, similar to your players telling fairy tales about camera wires.

Really? LSU would have more to fear from Oregon, who they beat by double digits, than Alabama, who missed 4 fgs and they only won by 3 in overtime? Seriously? GTFO.

In the event of an okie state loss, why should LSU have to win an extra game in order to play a team we beat. It basically means alabama gets a first round bye by losing and we have to play a play in game by winning.

Yes. Playing in a home game in New Orleans, LSU would easily roll Alabama. Again, you've lost the game. I realize that you thought Bama was the king of cfb and that Saban could get it done. Bama isn't and Nick couldn't. Enjoy the sugar bowl, but please just don't embarass the conference like you did last time.

UGA was basically ranked #2 after all the teams in front of them lost, but the media talking heads basically demanded that other teams who played for and won the CG of their conferences be ranked above them. I have no thoughts of UGA going to the MNC game, but like I said, I would be EXTREMELY pissed off, if a UGA win in the SECCG ended up sending Bama to the MNC. I would also hope that at the end of such a game that Richt on national TV would call out the hypocrisy of every one of the talking heads who even start saying Bama.

What? Colorado beat Nebraska 62-36 in the last game of the season in 2001, winning the Big 12 North. Nebraska still played Miami for the title.

Yes, but LSU controls their destiny. Bama does not. All LSU has to do is win - even if it is limping over the goal line. Bama needs help.

So, if things fall into place (which Boise and Stanford losses are part of this), then the "first round bye" scenario enters.

It would suck if LSU lost by 3 in the NCG to Bama, BUT the system is the system.

BCS #1/#2 play in the game and the winner is the national champion. Period.

How many teams lost at home and played for the title. Without playing in a championship game.

Yes, but as has been shown in the past, that 1 and 2 ranking are also subject to human manipulation.

I get this, but it really isn't the same scenario. UGA is not in the hunt for the national title (unless a lot of top 10 teams start doing a lot of losing).

The LSU-UGA thing in 2007 was a comparison of 11-2 LSU (SEC champ) and 10-2 UGA (SEC East co-champ, tiebreaker loser). UGA got skull-f&*%ed by UT early in the season. We beat them to win the conference.

I get the ranking thing - that part did suck. It went against historical poll logic (which has definitely changed over the BCS years).

UGA 2007's problem was they were one of two- two loss teams in their own conference so the nod went to the one that won the conference title. Throw in the fact Oklahoma jumped them as a 2 loss team because they beat #1. The last two weeks in 2007 were simply the perfect storm for LSU, and everything UGA needed to happen didn't.
