I was just glad to see Tubby and his staff go. Nothing against Tubby personally, but I thought it was time for a change.

i wasnt pissed, because i loved him here in 04. i was upset however that we didnt go after someone a little "bigger named", but when he started to hire his staff I knew he was going to be a good one.

At the time I was glad to get rid of our "lame duck" coach. He had gotten lazy recruiting, and I was tired of his complacency. When Chizik was hired, all I could think about was how great AU's defense would be, and we would get back to AU football(defense, and pound the rock). 2 years later, our defense is very average(at best), and offense is off the charts.

My intial reaction was WTF???
Then a few days (maybe a week later), Pat Dye wrote an open letter to the AU fans / family endorsing Chizik and saying we was the right man for the job. I got on board at that point and even posted the letter on here and said I am behind Chizik.
If Pat Dye says Chiz is a good hire, that was good enough for me.

Me. I wanted Gary Patterson from TCU.

My name is supportive of Chizik...

I wasn't a fan at first, but I withheld judgment until he put his staff together and finished that recruiting class. So after a few weeks I was perfectly fine with it.

Here's a question for AU fans. Say Malzahn is offered a job and is close to taking it. Also say you're the AD and have an opportunity to bump out Chiz and make Gus the HC in order to keep him. No PR or contractual repercussions. Would you do it?

IDK. Chizik's value to the team is unknown. It seems like he'd probably go after another top OC, but you never know if/when he starts making mistakes.

Yeah, and AU has definitely shown they're willing to spend for top-notch coordinators/staff. But it would have to be tough to part with Malzahn.

No, I believe the team unity which has won AU a few games is because of Chizik.
You can find another offensive coordinator, but you can't buy a team being close.
I still don't think Malzhan is ready for a head coaching gig either.
Edit* holy shite Auburn fans are coming out of the woodwork.

I think it would be tough. I think Malzahn is more responsible for Auburn's success this year, but I'm also not confident in his ability to be a head coach.

I know that feeling. At least you guys were familiar with Chizik.
