How many breaks does a team need to win a NC

No team can go through a National Championship year with out break, and by break i mean something, anything out of the normal scope of a game going in their favor. Ala, A QB actually catch a fade route for a TD, or a blocked fg for the win, ref calling a phantom foul...cough florida...cough, to name a few. How many do you think a team needs.

Depends how good the team is.

Didn't Arky have UT beat in 98, but screwed it up in the 4th?

We were up by 2 points @ #1 Tenn (Arky was #10 and undefeated), under 2 minutes left in the game, and had the ball at midfield - until our QB tripped over his lineman and dropped the ball. Tennessee recovered, won the game, and the rest is history.

A good bit. 95 Nebraska is the last team in this era that didn't need any luck.

First time I've seen grown men cry and go into several day depressions.

LINK
Start about 1:43:00. Stoerner trips, Tennessee recovers. Travis Henry runs it right down the throat of Arkansas to take the lead and win the game.
But in our defense, we had a pretty bad break, Jamal Lewis tore his ACL the second game of the year. Luckily we still had Travis Henry, Shawn Bryson, and Travis Stephens in our backfield.

In the SEC, you need alot. Just sayin'...
if you are a juggernaut in the Pac-10, Big 12, etc...I think you'd need less because the softness of some of those teams and the likelihood of blowouts.
If you are a mid-major, more breaks than you can imagine...and then some more luck. ::looking at you 1984 BYU::

I think LSU had at lease one in all but 2 games in '07 ( UK & Ark)
And 4 in some games ( Florida)
