Jake Fromm should get picked up by Nationwide when they are done with Payton Manning. Jake Fromm from Nationwide.

Fromm is not a 3 & out NFL QB, so that would require Fields to patiently wait his turn for 3 years. Not happening.
This. I'm happy to have Fields on the team but hate it for his career. If Fromm plays lights and lead us back to the playoffs or a one loss season, Fields gone. We'll be alright with top 150 QB John Rhys Plumlee coming in backing up Fromm his JR and SR years.

Yes, and we will have lost a generational talent who will ball out somewhere other than UGA. That would sting even worse than Deshaun Watson. I'm also not convinced Plumlee is a great talent. He's too short and too small.
Here's an idea. Don't recruit anymore pocket passing QBs who aren't multi-dimensional.

Oh my gosh. You are so dumb.

My only very, very SMALL gripe about the situation to date is that fields has only been given meaningless mop up time against scrubs. He played 0 snaps against SC and 1 against missouri.
I think Kirby has to make a decision next year. If Fields doesn't get meaningful snaps his potential value will remain in question. As good as Fromm is, I suspect that Fields might be much better. Kirby has to know which is better before game 5 next year.

From 247:
Tua obviously is 1 now, but still.

One high-ranking scout I spoke to last week was nearly giddy talking about the 2020 draft class (yes, they're already looking that far ahead). 'That kid at Georgia (Jake Fromm) and the one that left (Jacob Eason) are legit dudes. They could go 1-2 and they were at the same school! Those are the ones to watch.
Tua obviously is 1 now, but still.

NFL.com draft analyst Chad Reuter named Fromm No. 5 overall and second at quarterback on his top 150 college football players to watch in 2018.
quote:
Likewise, Reuter's colleague at NFL.com, Chase Goodbread, calls Fromm one of seven future NFL draft picks out of Georgia. "Fromm's ascension as one of the nation's top quarterbacks is emblematic of how quickly the quarterback landscape can change in college football.

Completely agree with this take!

romm is good but he's not done anything these other 2 haven't done.
he can throw a forward pass, so there's something hurts can't do. He's also never been yanked at halftime due to piss poor play, so there's another.

No he’s not. AM. was much better. He just didn’t have the defense and ST to help out.

At similar points in their careers, other than your own personal eye test, what leads you to believe Aaron Murray was much better?

Tua/Jalen situation 2.0, Fields comes in after halftime in the SEC championship game because Fromm is flat against Bama.
Except Fields comes up short, Bama wins.
Fields starts in 2019 with Fromm being the team player like Jalen and transfers at the end of the year.

be willing to say that Fields gets his shot the first time we're in a pinch this year. Halftime LSU down 14, or Auburn down at half with a chance at the playoff on the line.
Doubt it. Kirby seems less likely to play fields with Fromm struggling. And if he does, his lack of PT so far will make the move futile.

It's so funny when y'all argue this, but your comparison for making the move is Tua

disagree with WG; Fromm has demonstrated that he can beat Alabama, we lost the NCG on a defensive missed assignment, not because Fromm did not play well enough to win
Fromm demonstrated that he can beat Bama and hurts. Fromm didn’t play well enough to win vs just a half of tua.

Yep. Also demonstrated he couldn't beat Auburn and Stidham. Glad we pulled him in the SEC Championship for Eason to get us the W.

Those auburn games and the hyperbole from you that followed don’t prove my point wrong. Auburn is a totally different animal than Bama. Heck, Auburn can be beaten without a qb.

It's so far out that a lot can change (there's really only one 2020 NFL mock draft right now), but that was what I got after that year. NFL scouts love Jake Fromm. It very much is correct at this time to say that Jake Fromm might not just be a good college QB given how he was viewed already by the NFL after last year.
And that is what makes this so complicated of a situation. The correct answer is one of these QBs is probably leaving in 2019. Not after this season, because despite all the overly emotional things you see fans say, the Fields family would've been fine with this season being a wash for him! They said he would've been happy taking a redshirt based on other great QBs that have redshirted before. Unfortunately, with Georgia's case, there are no scholarship QBs outside of Fromm and Fields.
Next year's just a completely different case. If Fields isn't given a promise of a legit shot at taking over the starting job, perhaps similar to what we saw with Bryant and Lawrence early this season, he will leave. It's a new day and if a QB doesn't get a shot at starting early enough, they're not staying. They want their chance at glory.

You're a moron whose arguments boil down to "what if Fields screws up". That's all you've got. You also keep arguing as if anyone is asking for Fields to start. Nobody has argued that. All anyone has asked is to give him a legitimate shot and legitimate playing time. I can't take you seriously

other than your own personal eye test
That and the fact that Aaron Murray is the all-time leading passer in SEC history is the only test anyone needs. Fromm is a game manager who has ridden a great defense and a great running game. That is fine, but it doesn't make you as good as you can be.
Aaron Murray on this team would have shredded Missouri. Hell, Perdue shredded them for nearly 600 yards.

I understand that and in no way at all pin the loss on Fromm, but who knows how many 3rd and short/mediums Fields potentially could have run for to get a 1st opposed to having to punt due to taking a sack/incompletion/throw the ball away. It's completely hypothetical of course there's no way to know, I'm just saying that if you're going to beat the current alabama you've got to use every bullet at your disposal and that would seemingly be a guy who can pass and run really well. Look at the small list of QBs that have beaten bama in recent memory; cam, manziel, jones, watson, etc. Rarely do you have a guy that is just a pure passer that beats them, I still scratch my head on the ole miss losses. Stidham is somewhat mobile but he had the luxury of playing bama wiht no healthy linebackers and got them at home. I assure you stidham isn't beating bama this year.
And on the topic of this year, thsi bama squad looks to be better than any of saban's other ones. Granted the defense doesnt' look quite as good, which is good for fromm, but with their offense you're going to have to put up points. And again not saying fromm can't, it's just that a guy like fields gives you another option or 2.

Stidham running played a big role in that win. Both ole miss guys were dual threats too. That’s what it takes
