He was actually from Arkansas. The Razorbacks had some unfortunate luck with their native son. The first stroke of bad luck was Arkansas's failure to recruit Bryant to their school. The second stroke of bad luck involved the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Bryant had just been hired away from Vanderbilt to be the head man at Arkansas when World War II finally came to America. Instead of driving to Fayetteville, he drove to the local recruiting station and enlisted in the Navy.

Bear Bryant was a drunk and a liar.

And the second best coach in the history of the sport. So good in fact, that the most coveted coaching award is named after him as well as roads and buildings. What have you done with your life? How many buildings and awards from your profession are named after you?

That was for the sins of getting him from Kentucky

Actually, coach Bryant winning the SEC title at Kentucky and the NC in 1950 and he gets a pocket watch and Rupp gets a new Cadillac. It was time to go. Kentucky might as well have escorted him to College Station.

Why do Bama fans have a hard time with facts?

Facts: Like LSU didn't want Nick Saban when he called, stating they were happy with less (lol) Miles.

You mean that fact?

No shite, Sherlock.

Didn't realize the Gumps needed every little thing spelled out for them.

My point was he was a "Bama man," thus, Alabama had the inside track on getting him.

Yet almost every LSU fan I know bitches and moans about how much they hate Saban and hope he dies because he's returned Bama to glory....

You do realize Saban came crawling back to Baton Rouge, but we were winning with Miles. Bad move long term but atleast get your facts straight you gumpy sumbitch

This is not true, but if it is, then the LSU AD is idiotic for keeping Miles rather than re-hiring Saban.

How in the world did Alabama land the 2 best
Saban begged LSU to take him back after his nfl failure

In early Oct 2006 Saban told Sexton he had his permission to enter into conversations with these three SEC schools if he felt like the HC position would come open. UA, UGA and LSU.

Not really, based on the information at the time.

I blame Kentucky. If they had treated the "Bear" right, he would have never left.

Pleased that LSU and their fans preferred Miles over Saban.
