How heated do you think arguments will be moving forward for the last teams in?

Inevitably it will involve some SEC teams - probably more than 1 a lot of years. On the one hand, it will be a bit more like basketball in that you can't be too super outraged if you lose 2-3 games at not being in the playoff with a chance to win a national title. On the other hand, you are going to be looking at the team that got in instead of you and point to 2-3 data points that make it clear they aren't as good as you and you got screwed.

Will it be just as heated as it is with 4 (or was with 2 before)? Or will it be more like a team that gets left off the bubble in basketball, is pissed for a week and then kind of moves on?

Will be bitching but won’t be as bad

Will be easier to say “you could have done better than that.”

It's hard to imagine feeling as jilted with 3 losses as FSU does right now, but you know it's going to be bad.

Agree - feels like one of those things where even the more ardent loud mouth supporter will still be like "yea this sucks but we did lose 3 games and had like 2 good wins, how mad can I actually be?"

On the other hand, we all read this board regularly, so.........

We’ll never again see an undefeated P5 team screwed in the NC selection process like Auburn 2004 and FSU 2023.

The arguments will be almost meaningless as the teams ranked 10-12 will be beaten to a pulp almost every year. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see some kind of “NIT” tournament emerge for teams 13-25.

I think that LSU and OU would have decent arguments over Penn St and Mizzou this year.

Consider that in the SEC, MIssouri and LSU had the same record, and we beat them. Mizzou needed a miracle field goal to beat lowly Kansas St, while LSU lost to an unbeaten conference champ. Pretty easy to speculate that LSU would have beaten Kansas State and Mizzou would have lost to FSU.

Penn State had 1 top 25 win - Iowa. They weren’t close to Michigan or Ohio State.

OU defeated #3 Texas.

So yeah, there will be arguments at the bottom. But as yall have said: at the end of the day, we lost 3 games so we did it to ourselves.
