LSU vs. WVU

How many times do we need to see this movie before we are certain how it ends?

noooo shite. We beat them the last 2 years and by 20 at their place last year. (yes I know it was close for 30 seconds of the game).

I updated the first post of the thread to compare the Bottom 10 of each conference...Clay (not his real name) insists that it isn't fair that I just used the SEC's Top 10 since the Big 12 only has 10 teams in the SEC has 14.

Kentucky vs. Kansas
Vanderbilt vs. Iowa State
Arkansas vs. Texas Tech
Ole Miss vs. Oklahoma State
Mizzou vs. Baylor
Auburn vs. Oklahoma
Texas A&M vs. TCU
Tennessee vs. Texas
Miss State vs. West Virginia
Florida vs. Kansas State

Who would win these games?

I'm not so sure about that either. I think K-State would keep it close at least. Bama would probably win, but they would get few opportunities to run away with the game. I would not base my prediction on teh games Bama played against a demoralized Arkansas and a vastly overrated Michigan team. Both defenses suck, and both offenses are dependent on "big play" potential. Snyder's teams play discipled and secure football. They have the ability to limit turnovers and penalties while chewing up some clock.

The best comparison would be to drop the top two and bottom two from the SEC, IMO.

Edit: I would compare them, but that's too much typing for the device I'm using.

(I have been enlightened on how bad Kansas is, but Kentucky ain't much better haha)

I agree, however, that LSU would beat WVU fairly easily.

Bama by 21...at least.

They are good. As much as I hate to admit, they are gooooood. Kansas St. routinely plays beyond their talent level because Snyder is such a damn fine coach, but so is Saban and the talent disparity is LARGE.

ETA:

Probably take the Under though

he wanted to make sure that our bottom teams get evaluated...but I will add the matchups based on tossing the top 2 and bottom 2 of the SEC:

Georgia vs. Kansas State
South Carolina vs. West Virginia
Florida vs. Texas
Miss State vs. TCU
Tennessee vs. Oklahoma
Texas A&M vs. Baylor
Auburn vs. Oklahoma State
Mizzou vs. Texas Tech
Ole Miss vs. Iowa State
Arkansas vs. Kansas

I don't think there is anyway the SEC doesn't go at least 6-4 in the top 10 of each conference match-up (which is the way it should be matched up). More likely 7-3 or 8-2.

I understand why he would want that, but discounting the FOUR teams we currently have in the top 10 is nuts.

Dropping top two and bottom two, I think Auburn loses and Tenn, Ole Miss, Mizzou are toss ups. 6-4 at worst.

Kansas lost to Rice...Mizzou hung with UGA and beat Arizona State. I don't see how anyone picks Kansas to beat Mizzou, based on the results thus far.

You're probably right, but I wanted to give the Big 12 one win so I wouldn't come off as a complete SEC homer.

Nevertheless, UCF is still favored over Mizzou this weekend.

yeah wtf.

Thats like a team saying they match up well with another team if their all-americans and QB can't play.

I guess I can see how this would be a little more fair, although I still say it's not the SEC's fault the Big XII is falling apart (ok maybe it kind of is, but so what?)

I could actually see 5-5 in these matchups, but I think it misses the point of the SEC having the two best teams in the country while the Big XII might not have one in the top 5. That kind of power at the top overrides any small advantage (if any) that the Big XII might have in the bottom half of the conference.

Agree, Clay is being silly if he thinks the Dull 12 is better than the SEC.

So Clay admits the SEC is superior unless you remove Bama, LSU, Georgia, and South Carolina?

This Clay fellow is a funny guy.

I don't think we'd beat WVU. It'd be a fun game, and we'd make Geno Smith look mortal, but I think our offense wouldn't be able to keep up. Personally I'd go

TOP

quote:

Alabama vs. Kansas State
LSU vs. West Virginia
Georgia vs. Texas push. Win if Richt isn't there
South Carolina vs. TCU
Florida vs. Oklahoma
Miss State vs. Baylor
Tennessee vs. Oklahoma State
Texas A&M vs. Texas Tech
Auburn vs. Iowa State Push, but I'm leaning ISU
Mizzou vs. Kansas

I'll note here that I'm not convinced OM isn't better than Auburn or Mizzou, and I think they'd win against ISU or Kansas. Definitely win against Kansas.

BOTTOM

quote:

Kentucky vs. Kansas
Vanderbilt vs. Iowa State
Arkansas vs. Texas Tech
Ole Miss vs. Oklahoma State Not sure this early. Would be a fun matchup
Mizzou vs. Baylor
Auburn vs. Oklahoma
Texas A&M vs. TCU
Tennessee vs. Texas
Miss State vs. West Virginia Would be a good game, but I think WVU pulls out with it in a close one.
Florida vs. Kansas State

EXCLUSION
quote:

Georgia vs. Kansas State push due to Richt
South Carolina vs. West Virginia
Florida vs. Texas
Miss State vs. TCU
Tennessee vs. Oklahoma
Texas A&M vs. Baylor
Auburn vs. Oklahoma State
Mizzou vs. Texas Tech
Ole Miss vs. Iowa State
Arkansas vs. Kansas

I guess I could see that too. But you are right, even if we go .500 in those games, we still have two more teams that could be the best in the country.

SEC>Big 12, however you slice it
