As a former Deltan, it seems like almost everyone from the Delta is pro Miss. St. until you go north to Clarksdale. I think the Delta is pro Miss. State for several reasons.

1. Miss. State is an Ag school. Everyone in the Delta and Mississippi live in Ag towns. (outside of Jackson and the Coast). It's familiar to them.

2. Ole Miss is seen as a yankee school to extremely country or southern folks because it attracts the Liberal Arts crowd and tons of out of staters.

3. Miss. State continues to attract the Ag crowd and these people will tend to have a lot in common and get along better therefore the cycle keeps repeating .

4. Ole Miss doesn't attract the Ag crowd, therefore it has been forced to start recruiting major metro areas in out of state cities also perpetuating the cycle.

Essentially it just comes down to Different strokes for different folks.

If you grew up in Mississippi as I did, it is very easy to loathe everything about Ole Miss.

They are a bunch of Harvard wanna bes but aren't in the same zip code.

Let's look up some stuff about the sprawling metropolis that is Mandeville.

True story.

I'm from the Delta and can count the Ole Miss fans that I know from here on two hands.

Try again..Closed down last year and is now under a different name and owned by a private company

I am from Mandeville. As one of the out of state people being referred to that graduated from Ole Miss, I grew up with no jaded opinion of MSU or Starkville (I hate everything LSU). Having visited there several times since, MSU may be a fine university but Starkville really is a shithole.

Are people in here making fun of Mandeville now?

Western Saint Tammany Parish is nicer than 99% of Mississippi.
