Lacy is going to be good but he doesn't have the resume of Latt or Davis. Just like Mett doesn't have the resume of other SEC QB's. So let's not give either the Heisman just yet. Ford actually had similar numbers to Lacy last year. Saban will spread out the carriers more this coming year IMO.

With all the hype the gumps have been giving Lacy, it's almost unfair he has to live up to near-heisman status He's no Richardson..

:kige:

He can catch out of the backfield better and should complement Mett on check down situations.

Also, Lacy, injured, still rushed for near 700 yards and 7 TDs with less than 100 carries in the SEC West, and he didn't play in Garbage time, he played when the starters on D were still out there.

Lacy is a legitimate starting SEC tailback, when healthy. However, he has not proven he's TR or Mark Ingram quality. He's also not proven to be as durable as either Richardson or Ingram (and both of those guys had problems with nagging injuries). He appears to be a half tick or so down. He may flourish as the feature back, or he may wilt. We don't know yet. To suggest he's going to come in and put up Heisman candidate numbers, based on what he's done up to this point, is pure old homerism.

Not unexpected, but not based in reality.

For all those saying that Eddie Lacy is unproven and injury prone, blah, blah, blah. I'd just like to point out that Lacy has played 2 season just like Ford, Ware, and Blue yet Lacy has more yards, TDs, and ypc than any of them.

All of this with injuries, to boot. So even hurt, he puts up competitive numbers.

No he has proven to be a serviceable back.....I'm not sure he will get to 1500 yds becuase of

injury prone

denying that he is also this would be foolish.

Also, to set him up to be as productive as Ingram and Richardson is foolish.....its just not smart.

ETA and to answer the OP question I really expect HIlliard to come on strong to be honest....I'd expect him to approach 1000-1100 yds with Ford/Blue coming in as the change of pace back

Really, based on what? Since no one has done it yet, maybe you wouldn't mind making the case for why he is injury prone.

Last year was Lacy's turn at being the 2nd back in the rotation like Ingram was in '08 and Trent was in '09. His performance is comparable. He may not be quite as good as the other two, but I think those hoping for a huge drop-off are going to be disappointed. Earlier in thread I predicted 1350 which is around what Glen Coffee had as the featured back in '08. I think Lacy is every bit as good as Coffee.

In the OP, Homer McGump suggested that Lacy was going to have almost twice as many yards as the top LSU back. I won't dispute that Lacy is a good back, but there is no evidence to suggest that he is THAT much better so get over it.

OK lets see as a Junior at Dutchtown Lacy was a beast ran for damn near 2000 yds just carved through a lot of good teams in the area.

In 2008 his Senior campaign his production was damn near cut in half due to injury.

2009 redshirt
2010 barely plays with Ingram running shite
2011 conjurs up 631 yds rushing half of which was acquired in games 1-3....in Arkansas game he gets some type of foot injury (reportedly turf toe) and has minimal production through the rest of the season.

So basically in the last 2 seasons that he has played much at all he had an injury. I call that injury prone from the latest sample of evidence that we have. What do you call it?

anything less than 2500 for Lacy is a disappointment IMO

It could happen if he could find a way to stay healthy with that 23 game schedule

You seem to complain a lot about your own team when they disappoint you, so I take it as a compliment that you are setting the bar so high for Alabama and Lacy.
