I believe that anyone owning a beagle should be required to live at least 5 miles from any other human. But other than the fact that are the least stoic dog on the planet, they are nice.

Beagles are never accused of being bright. I had a water hose rigged to spray them when they barked/howled at night.
But German short hairs are not much brighter. Llewellin Setters are generally highly intelligent and discriminating in what they will and will not do.
