Please note that no trees were harmed during the construction of this expansion...

Harming a tree is a sin on this campus.

Davis Wade looking good
And of course, Tiger Stadium

Yeah Davis Wade is coming along very nicely. Can't imagine they'll have any issues getting it completed in time, barring major weather issues.

Yeah, outside of the video board install, and actual bleachers/chairback install, I think we'll be done with the risers and seating this week... The rest should be concourse/interior work which shouldn't be overly affected by weather...
Will be interesting to see what we do in the coming years. This improvement has pointed out/focused alot of our other shortcomings in the stadium. Namely the halfass way that we'll transfer a 15 ft height difference between the west/endzone and east side concourses. Have to think we renovate that concourse very soon to match the rest of the lower level of the stadium...

Any chance MSU replaces the older upper deck with a new one? Much like LSU did in '05 to add premium seating and make the stadium more symmetrical.

Man what a waste that first west upper deck was...
...but that escalator was

It seems like it was pretty standard for the upper decks built around then (see the older upper decks at MSU and Auburn).
I never sat up there, but always thought it was ugly.
The new one was a major upgrade both aesthetically and in terms of premium seating.

Agreed. Did you know that old escalator was one of the longest in the world when it was built?

Tried to read this thread but realized it was people posting daily pics that showed minute movement, have the posters that did that learned that we don't care that this piece of dirt has been moved from yesterday? It's a slow process and we time lapse is better then "look we moved this beem into place!"

Weekly pics, pretty much.

No way to possibly hurt a tree on this part of campus.

I'll never forget my first game in Tiger Stadium in 2000 vs Tennessee. We rode up that escalator, and when it turns to go up the second one there was a huge dead rat just laying there for everyone to see.
We then sat 3 rows from the very top of the old west upper deck. Good times

There's been alot of talk of us renovating that mid deck into skyboxes. No idea if it's feasible to accomplish with the current upper deck in place...
I'd love to see it come down and a fresh start on that side personally. That said, we just built new elevators at the ends of both those ridiculous ramps -- so it seems we're married to the current structure over there in the immediate sense...
We've overbuilt club -- and significantly underbuilt skyboxes. Something will need to happen to remedy the skybox situation pretty quickly IMO...

On funding?
As for Davis Wade, it would seem like tearing down and rebuilding a new upper deck with more suites would be the best long-term plan, but I obviously don't know the details.

Damn. Is that where the new parking garage will go?
At least that would cover that up.
