Houston already doubled Hermans pay and they stated "This is just the starting point."

He's already making $3 million. If they get into the Big 12, they can easily up hit 2 million to $5 million which would put him in line with the Big 12's highest paid coaches.

I don't think Texas carries as much weight in the Big 12 as they used to. Plus the fact the Longhorn Network is still a point of contention with a lot of members certainly comes into play. There's a lot of grumbling that goes with the fact Texas is reaping the benefits of a TV network of their own when other schools see how the B1G Network and SEC Network are pouring in good money into all the teams in a conference regardless of results.
Texas might find it's way of being the odd man out with regards to expansion.
