Biggest selling features to lure Kiffin away from Ole Miss is the name Florida and the recruiting.
Past 5 years, even with substandard coaching, Florida has been able to sign a better class than Ole Miss.

Ole Miss not making the playoff last year is not because Ole Miss did not give Lane the resources needed to put a playoff team together. Ole Miss has given him the money to bring in recruits (including taking an All SEC DE from Florida), the 2nd highest paid DC in college football, the 4th highest paid OC in college football, and a huge budget for support staff that includes a former NFL HC. If he walks, and he may, I think UF will have offered him a ludicrous contract. Maybe they will. Keith Carter will be able to point to all of the above and have an opportunity to make another good hire.
The biggest advantage Florida has had historically is local HS recruiting. That could not be less relevant in the modern era of football and it definitely couldn't be less important to Lane.

I would think the deep sea fishing in Florida would be appealing as well

they compete for recruits with four other in-state D1 programs and all kinds of out-of-state competition m. No UF coach will ever be able to build a recruiting fence around their own backyard.
In fairness, their basketball team just essentially brought in a top-10 class and won a national championship.
