this is an odd point to try and make about ND game

ND was gassed in 2nd half and it had more to do with UGA's success.

There is a dorm at LSU named “Kirby Smith,” named after a Confederate General. I was talking with a friend about Kirby Smart on Monday, and kept saying “ Kirby Smith.” To anyone who went to LSU, Kirby and Smith go together. It just pops out that way from habit.

Fromm’s average yard per attempt in the second half was more than double what it was in the first half..we opened up the offense.

He is an excellent recruiter, roster manager, and CEO. In fact, I’d be willing to say he is the best in the country at this and is very close to Saban’s level with the benefit of youth.

On the other hand, he is a horrifically bad in game coach. His clock management, situational decision making, and overall game flow philosophy are at a level worse than remedial.

As a fan, it is extremely frustrating, because it looks like we will have monstrous, goon squad teams every year, but are not likely to ever win anything of significance, because the moment we face well coached teams with above average talent, we get embarrassed.

We just beat a well coached team with above average talent.

So you are saying we beat em up with our big OL? Because that was the plan.

Yeah none of what they are saying makes sense. One guy claims Coley doesn’t adjust when the plan isn’t working. I point out he did adjust. The other guy says no he didn’t, the plan started working. Seems they should argue with each other.

That is the only plan you need against ND. They are soft.

Personally, if I had the talent advantages that UGA has, I’d play it conservative and trust that structural advantage to manifest itself over the course of the game. If you risk a lot with your playcalling, you’re inviting fate and the bounce of the ball to determine the outcome. He’s wildly successful for a young HC. Pretty sure he knows exactly what he’s doing.

Come on man. He’s definitely not horrifically bad. He’s not great by any stretch but he’s not that bad.

This. That was extreme hyperbole.

But does he coach scared or is he a nervous wreck? In big games I see his body language and play calling is concerning and doesn't project confidence.

I think Kirby Smart has the young coaches mentality that he has to be in on every offensive and defensive decision made on the field. He needs to have a long talk with some coaches that failed in their first HC job and are succeeding their second time around. Coach O can tell him he needs to pick good assistants and let them coach.

Actually, it was horrifically bad and incorrect.
