Away from basketball he apparently did a lot for kentucky, I’m not saying he’s a bad person. But his nba factory approach isn’t a recipe for success if it’s freshman top heavy. Hopefully he’ll steer away from that but he sure can recruit the freshmen. How can he turn those away? Tough situation.

Kentucky fans grew tired because of 2 things, 1) he focused almost solely on super freshmen, which doesn't work anymore,and 2) constantly talked about getting players to the next level.
Kentucky fans don't care, by and large, about the next level. It's why Pope had all the NBA stuff removed.
I have to believe cal knows he can't continue to do that, but like you said, time will tell.

as shocked as I was with how good and consistent we were last year, I was shocked with how bad we looked in game one. Effort, good pashing, good ball handling, defense...all the things we excelled at last year looked like weaknesses

I like the energy. It's more positive and contagious. Excellent shooting and ball sharing team. They make high level decisions.
The team is so fun to watch scrap and there isn't the "me" or "ego" issue prevalent.
It will be a fun season.
