I stand by that
Avery was as good as it was gonna get for bama
I also said it was a meh hire
Both can be true. And we’re. And still are. And will continue to be.

LSU didn't lose due to coaching. Johnny didn't miss every fg in the last 10 minutes of play and choke away free throws. Yall are retarded.
I'm only on page 9 of 14 right now. Do you still want me to keep reading?

I was at that game
It wasn’t coaching
A&M kicked the shite out of LSU out the gate. I hated Jonny. Didn’t mean that particular loss was on him

So, you stand by your post stating Johnson was a splash hire that was as good as we could have done, and yet you spent an entire night essentially bumping a 4 year old thread just a few weeks ago, and felt the need to create a new one on top of it?
I'm not sure I understand the logic.

Uh, yes.
It was a splash hire because of his name and time in the nba.
It’s obvious that’s why he got the job despite any college experience.
I said throughout the entire thread that he had no college coaching track record and certainly none in recruiting.
Feel free to quote those, or I can

Yea if I remember correctly my initial response was that it was outside the box, but that maybe that's what we needed. Thought his personality, name and background would play well in recruiting and it would all come down to whether he could deal with and coach kids. The recruiting has been fine, better even given the better caliber offense player we've signed the last couple years.
But he hasn't gotten a lick better at things that we struggled with in year one, whether it be his teams collapsing or the inability to put a consistent product on the floor.
It's Groundhog Day.

I would argue that the hype he brought to Tuscaloosa would make him a colossal failure being let go in year 4
I mean Tim Brando said so
MUH MEDIA
But Tuscaloosa says he is still fapping so go figure.....

Say all you want but Johnson is a second fiddle hire considering bama was willing to pay someone close to $5,000,000 a year. No one worth a damn thinks it's a job worth taking
quote:
Avery had a Dallas team that easily had deep playoff talent. This hire is a downgrade for him even though he had no business coaching in the NBA. Tennessee came out wayyy on top getting Barnes.
Lol

I think it's hysterical that bama fans would take Johnson over Marshall. It's funny because Johnson has no resume and no recruiting background yet it's a good hire. The man was a stereotypical NBA coach who got his job based on nothing other than basketball knowledge and knowing people.

Why would I be mad? Y'all just hired a bust NBA coach with no experience I'm ecstatic

Bc I post on the SECr and enjoy informing people that their excitement is misplaced. It's a meh hire at best.

This hire is a desperate one that came after Texas and Tennessee had better hires. Y'all rushed it in fear of UF and UK coming open. Plain and simple.

The good news is we've learned that while it might not have been a super appealing job we had a total boob running the search in Battle.
So, the positive part of me (and others) thinks Byrne will have a much better idea and plan to hire the next guy.
The negative part says it doesn't matter we're cursed to bubble purgatory forever.

Anthony Grant was a bust as well

Battle's tenure as Interim AD was about as bad as anyone could put together in that short a period of time. Basketball disaster, Nike deal disaster, Gymnastics, nearly fvckin up Saban, hiring the bozo from Louisiana Tech for baseball. Just a nightmare.
For a guy with such an impressive business resume he sure acted like an old 1980s ex-coach AD.

He used gullable Battle as leverage to get the Koch brothers to invest enough to get Wichita into a semi-big boy league.
And it worked.
