Good. Let them have at it.
A base salary wouldn't exactly be a bad way to go right now. It already makes you rich, and can only guarantee more money "if" you exceed expectations. Meeting certain expectations like an 8-win season is covered no matter what.
8 wins is worth 2 million.
Being paid 3 times that to lose 4 or more games a year is unfortunately not acceptable.
Your already rich arse doesn't need the rest of the 5.5 million dollars that you would have normally received if things would have gone better for "you" .
It's your job. You should win (financially) when the team wins and be happy with being rich, still, when you lose... just for a little less money.

Then, no great coach will do that. There you have it. It got to be all across college football to agree to do the same.

So you think these coaches would be willing to work 18 hour days and 7 days a week with little to no job security for those amounts?
Think again.
Think again.

This year might be theirs if we don't learn how to defend the skinny post and to run block.

Notre Dame back handed Michigan most of their game.
Youll get it figured out

When does ANYONE work 18 hours a day, 7 days a week.
I bet you are the type that swore Bear Bryant rose on the third day with a bottle of Jack in one hand, and the other hand in Jesus's.

Sorry to hear you’re poor.

People, in general, are poor because they either never knew how to handle money in the first place, or either actually had it and still didn't know how to handle it.
There is nothing wrong with being smart financially.
Throwing loads and loads of money into hopes and dreams is foolish no matter who you are.
There is nothing wrong with trying to ask people to earn their money for doing a job.
The incentive is hiring them for about 2 million to begin with.
That is more than generous. Just earn the rest according to exceeding expectations.

Yeah, maybe. Harbaugh was hired to beat us, though, not Notre Dame.
I will say that I like our team's resiliency. They've been punched in the mouth often, and have taken it well.

The goal is to work less, for more money.

Your premise should actually dive into paying players.
Because like NFL players, college coaches are earning the market rate based on the amount of financial production they provide. Overall, schools want to win because winning produces more revenue. More revenue means that those responsible for the revenue will want a percentage that represents their part.
Coaches are already paid with incentives. Everything you’ve listed about getting paid for championships, bowl games, etc leads to bonus money. The market simply dictates that major programs can afford to pay $5 million as a base salary to their head coaches.
So the bigger question is how much are coaches owed versus how much revenue the players generate?

Not considering how well compensated a coach would be on the way to getting there. That's $9.5M for running the table. No national championship coach has ever made that much in a season.

He’s paying two HC salaries, not so much.

Frost is undertaking an entire rebuild project. Gus has no fricken excuses. Everyone else on that list is performing quite well
