Defending 6A champ Starkville is #1 in Mississippi, who for the first time has a 7A classification.
Starkville had a weird season last year - started 0-3 in district and then had to win four in a row to even make the playoffs. Then ran the table. They play No. 18 Oxford in the Little Egg Bowl Week 4 in one of the great high school rivalries.
Tupelo is ranked No. 2 to start the season. They had a disappointing finish last year after being No. 1 most of the year with an unbeaten regular season, they lost in the second round of the playoff to Starkville.
Madison Central is ranked No. 8 to start the season and could disrupt a Tupelo-Starkville North State clash - but they fell to unranked Pearl in a jamboree last week. They open the season with No. 6 Ocean Springs at home tonight
In the South, No. 3 Oak Grove and No. 4 Brandon are destined to meet to play who comes out of the North. Ocean Springs is the best chance to disrupt that.

Frist game in Tejas was last night. Longview High (#2 in the UIL 5A class) was upset by McKinney (#22 in 6A).
Longview RB and 5 star OU Commit Taylor Tatum had a big night, running for a 64 yard TD as the Wildcat QB. He put Longview ahead in the early 4th throwing for a 34 yard TD on a big 4th down.
McKinney took the lead once again, however, and Florida commit 5 Star McKinney CB Xavier Filsaime shut the game down at the end by forcing a fumble on Longview's last drive.

Big matchups tonight include
1) Duncanville vs SOC - #1 in 6a vs #2 in 5a. Too much talent on that field to list.
2) Allen vs DeSoto

You sound like a good dad — I know it's taken a lot of work and sacrifice to get to this point.
He'll do well wherever he decides to go with that type of upbringing and support.
Congrats on the success so far, and we'll be rooting for him in the future.

Side note, finalized our Arkansas game visit this fall…coming in for Ms State. If I had to guess I’d say he commits at that visit. Going to Florida and Ole Miss game visits before, but right now it’s heavy lean Arkansas.
Why would he want to play for a program that is mediocre at best?

Bentonville over Broken Arrow, OK - 41-0
Granada, Miss murdered Pine Bluff 30-7
Little Rock Catholic over North Little Rock 17-7 - more changing of the guard
5A former powerhouse Little Rock Parkview over Springdale Har-ber 52-21 -- I wonder if the Parkview coach gets a head coaching job at UA Monticello or something
Greenwood, 49-21 over Stillwater, OK

In Alabama, 5 time (4 time consecutive) defending 7A Champs, Thompson, handled Opelika fairly easily (44 - 13) last night.
