and select blending options. Then click outer glow...make sure you don't just click the check area.
then just play around with it till you get what you like. It will make the text much easier to see
I'm still learning, it took me 5 minute to find how to change the color of the font, when it was right under my nose all along

If you have trouble finding something... try the windows tab. It has dockable windows on it on it to make accessing it easier
