I mean, not one single team in the NFC north has a chance to make the playoffs if you take out Green Bay, Chicago and the Lions.

If Bama or LSU played any team from any other conference for the championship would the spread be any less than 10 pt in favor of the SEC team? I seriously doubt it.

I wonder if the other three being ranked #1-#3 and having a combined two losses has anything to do with that?

Here is an excellent example of Mark Twain's observation that the 3 categories of lies are (i) ordinary lies, (ii) damnable lies and (iii) statistics. Each of those 3 teams has played the top 3 teams in the BCS (except Auburn, which has yet to play 'Bama). Each of them has lost to each of those teams, all from the SEC West. That's 8 losses to the other 3 SEC West teams. Take those out of the mix and those teams are a combined 14-11. Not world-beaters, but a winning record.

SEC West is stupid good.

I troll a lot of Clemson forums and they are always talking about how the SEC is overrated and the "SEZ Least" is a joke.

While the east isn't strong, it should be pointed out that each east team plays 3 teams from the west every year.

I always knew there was something awry with us joining the SEC. Thanks for clearing that up.

Big 12 fans are always whineing about the SEC being a media favorite. Fact is even though the SEC has won the last 5 BCSNC the Big 12 has played in two and lost. OU is 1 of 4 in BCSCG's. If you want to play win when you get there.

What is really funny about people saying that the SEC is down this year is this: Currently, we have 6 teams ranked in the top 25. The next conference has 5 with the big 12, although it is still baffling that Texas is ranked after losing for the second straight game, regardless of that. We have more teams in the top 25 than any other conference. Also, we have a chance to have 5 teams finish with at least 10 wins. All Georgia and South Carolina have to do is win 1 more game. We have never had more than 4 finish with at least 10 wins. We also have a chance to put 10 teams in bowl games. To me, I really think that the SEC is up from the last couple of years. I do believe that when you can have almost half of your teams get to double digit wins you are a really good conference. Heck, our top 5 teams could legitimately finish the year with a grand total of 9 losses. What other conference could even come close to that?

The SEC could be viewed as 'down' this year in terms of bowl teams. There have been years when 9 teams qualified. Ain't gonna happen this year.

I think the reason for some teams not qualifying (that normally do) is that an unusual number of starting QBs are gone from last year. If you look at the starting QBs from Dec. 2010 and the starting QBs today, about 10 of the 12 teams have a different guy.

Come on guys. There is a lot of truth to this.

Some, you're right. However, it is misguided. Having three teams in the league combine for only 2 losses has really put a hurting on the rest of the league. Let's say Arkansas had 2 more losses in league play. Although it would drop Arkansas, it would pick up some other teams, and people would say the SEC has depth.

It is a zero-sum game in conference. There will be 48 wins and 48 loses to go around every year. The fact that 21 of the 48 wins and 3 of the 48 losses will go between 3 schools hurts the perception.

The SEC is slightly behind the Big 12-2 in the computer polls as a group, but this weekend could tip the scales in favor of the SEC.

The writer should take the top 3 teams out of each conference, then he can get a fair representation using his W-L Logic...Take Oregon, USC, and Stanford out of the Pac-12 what do you have? It wont be as pretty im sure.

Pretty impressive when on a "down year" the SEC still has the #1, #2 and #3 ranked teams in the nation.
