Muschamp & Kirby were first up under Hal Mumme (not too damn shabby) at Valdosta State.

nope, they were under the whiz kid who's at Samford now, forget his name

Mumme left Valdosta for Kentucky in 1997

Chris Hatcher from Macon, QBd VSU to a d-2 NC if I’m not mistaken.

They are 2nd generation on the Mumme tree not 1st.

My bad . I’m getting old and forgetful

Edit: more evidence of my apparent early onset dementia: didn’t win a d2 NC at VSU, had them in the final 4

That’s a very up-to-date pic there.

We face him and the Samford Bulldogs on Saturday. Expect Kirby to take it as easy as he can on them.

Six of Saban's 2015 assistants are current Power 5 head coaches, making nearly $50 million combined in 2022. The defensive and offensive coordinators from that staff, Kirby Smart and Lane Kiffin, are guiding No. 3 Georgia and No. 21 Ole Miss, respectively. Secondary coach Mel Tucker is now one of the highest paid men in the sport at No. 15 Michigan State. Offensive line coach Mario Cristobal now leads No. 16 Miami. Dan Lanning takes over for Cristobal at No. 11 Oregon this season. And after 40 wins in four seasons at Louisiana, wide receivers coach Billy Napier is tasked with leading a rebuild at Florida.

Good ol’ Bobby Williams!

Burton Burns was also the RB coach for the NY Giants last year. Some of us older folks might remember him as a RB at Nebraska under Tom Osborne.
