Cig has a College Hall of Fame Dad and was assistant of Saban. He seems to have learn how to be a great coach from his Dad and Saban. His team is very disciplined. He also see great players from smaller schools that a lot of Div 1 coaches over look because they don't have the stars. These players seem to play with heart and something to prove. He has a bunch of super seniors from the portal. Plus Billionaire Cuban helps with NIL. Not every school has all that. Oregon has Billionaire Knight and a lot of talented players but can't get over the hump. If Indiana wins a Natty. Then not only will the last 3 teams be from the BIG . They will be the Tri State region as what Ohio, Indiana, Michigan calls each other since they all are bordered to each other. But most importantly all 3 teams will have had several Senior leadership and starters. That seems to be the key is Senior Starters to win it all. That's what Penn State tried to do before they lost to Oregon and then fell to pieces. They had a bunch of Seniors that came back to try to win it all.

quote:Indy’s got a pretty veteran team, maturity and experience counts for a lot. They are a well rounded bunch and have the best fundamentals of just about any other team I’ve seen.
Cignetti did a phenomenal job of identifying the guys he wanted. They’re all pretty close to collecting social security checks, which is something else I think we’ll see trend.

quote:its still a team with only 7 4 stars. Cig brought several of these guys from JMU. it's not like they are loaded with rd1 talent that everyone wanted.
Amazing how this gets overlooked and never mentioned on air.

Indiana has a lot more resources than almost every single school you just listed. You do highlight a problem, though: Most people don’t know that. So mouth breathing non-ball knowers think they’re entitled to the same success. Indiana has the largest alumni base in the entire country, and dozens of heavy hitting wealthy donors. The NIL era was built for programs like Indiana.
