Some schools focus on the individual and maybe once in their lifetime win the NC. Alabama focuses on the team and has only gone two decades since 1920 without winning a NC (1950's and 1980's), with many of those winning multiple NC.

Well, when you're the 2nd tier school in your own state, when you actually recruit (buy) a star player, they get all the attention.

Auburn Men would rather go 1-11 and beat Alabama than go 11-1 and lose to Alabama.
Bama Men care about Championships. Auburn Men care about beating Alabama.
Huge difference there. Just like Coach Dye said Auburn could play football for 500 years and not win as many championships as Alabama. But, for some bizarre reason Auburn thinks they are Alabama’s peer.
After Tua wins the Heisman it will be 3-3 in that category and Auburn will have nothing to cling to anymore.
Auburn Men would rather go 1-11 and beat Alabama than go 11-1 and lose to Alabama.

Auburn has the same type of people. However because Auburn is not high profile they do not register in the public eye.
