That you're so guillable you don't think the SID would immediately go to the coach and say "HBO wants a comment from you on this cheating story they run about us."

What is the issue?
Every Media Guide I have ever seen has a page that says something to the effect of, "All requests for contact with coaches and or players will be granted by the Sports Information Director's office. Please contact them by calling __________." So, like a previous poster said, contactin the SID's office is a defacto attempt to contact Chizik. The school's SID, AD and probably their legal counsel chose to not have Chizik respond publicly.

In all honesty, the SID probably went to Dye and Lowder instead of Chizik, since they're running the program.

The issue is that Chizik said he wasn't contacted by HBO. HBO says they contacted the Auburn Sports Information Department.
Now Chizik could be technically right in that he was not personally contacted by HBO. However, it's quite disingenuous in the Tressel-mold to say that if he was informed by the SID of HBO's allegations.
And given the standard bureaucracy of any agency that is contacted for an alleged violation, this message got passed up the flagpole and he was informed. it would take staggering incompetence to think that not passing on HBO's allegations the spring after winning the BCS Championship isn't something to pass on to a supervior, provost or Athletic Director.

Am I the only one who doesn't give a shite about allegations at AU or LSU or Ohio State or anywhere else? Seriously, players getting 100 dollar handshakes, easy women, and over zealous boosters is breaking news? It's like finding out there out there is gambling in Casablanca.
I would rather watch a full season of dirty football coaches and players than spend 2 minutes of my life watching baseball or basketball. It's not gonna change and I'm not gonna act outraged that some star player is getting some cash and bangin' some hot chicks after the game.

when you are a journalist, you show all sides of the story, not just one.
This is not even true for newspapers any more. I can not believe anyone would expect it from HBO or any other TV network. I am not saying this is a good thing, but it is true.
Maybe some hiibilly paper like the Fayetteville Gazette still feels they need to show both the Hatfiels and the McCoys side of the story, but HBO, CBS (60 Minutes), ESPN and most other national media outlets do not.

This is fricking retarded. No shite. The story isn't about players who say they didn't get money.
Does AU have to pay ALL their players before it's newsworthy?
