Sorry to hear that.
They hooked you up with a good severance package though right?

I'd add that distance from home matters less and less than it once did because of not only cheap and easy travel but also because technology has made it easy to keep in touch. In 1990, if you wanted to call home everyday (even from within the same state) you were often hit with pretty hefty long distance charges. Now, you can skype, use your cell phone etc. and other tech for virtually unlimited and free contact with anyone both nationally and internationally. That's a pretty big game changer for someone contemplating going away from home for the first time as well as for their parents.

go do an engineering major at Clemson.

you'll have a Sudden New Respect for Clemson on academics. :)

Kind of like how Alabama people stopped talking trash to Clemson suddenly this year. it's pretty weird.

Never had a disrespect for their academics
And I clearly only said I knew from their standing with my industry

I saw Clemson ranked no. 24 best business college in the country by one publication.

If no. 24 isn't good enough, might as well shut it down.

most parents can't afford to send little johnny and little suzy q to Harvard type colleges and those colleges don't take many students anyway.

Clemson is about to open up a swanky new business college building across the field from Tillman.

I don't see the problem with the roads in SC in general. People who complain about roads are divas.

There is obviously opportunity here given the massive population and economic growth.

if the schools suck, how do you explain all the students who grew up in SC schools and then became physicians, engineers, scientists, etc.

If you take SC failing students and ship them to 'good' schools up north, they gonna fail up there too.

Dammit ... you made me upvote you.

I’ve had too much to drink obviously.

BTW, I know what you meant when you referenced population and economic growth. We’re growing too fast here. Too many northerners moving in.

Sometimes you’re better off going to a less expensive school and not having student loans. My daughter is a nursing student at Upstate. Could have gone to Clemson but would have had to taken out a student loan. Is her starting pay going to be any more had she gone to Clemson? Nope. Ten years from now she will make the same salary as someone working the same job as someone from Clemson but have no student loans. Better deal and most profitable in the long run was to go to Upstate. She’ll be just as employable.

All depends of the field you choose.

That makes no sense.

Texas has only won 1 title since 1970, and only has 4 titles overall. They finished 3rd in the AP poll in 1970 but still claim the title.

Clemson has 3 since 1981.

Two of Clemson's titles are in the CFP era.

Like I said and numerous others said certain programs will be able to take advantage of the CFP era.

Texas in the 2000s would have had 3 teams in maybe 4.
2004
2005
2008
2009

2004 is a maybe
Auburn
Oklahoma
USC
4th is a question

Would have been Texas or Georgia

Put the CFP in the 1990s and Florida State
As great as Florida State was in the 1990's the CFP would have made them more relevant and helped with recruiting.

Clemson is surprising me. I think it could end up being Oregon out of the PAC eventually.
But I think both Oregon and Clemson will be much easier to kick off the perch than a USC or Texas.

Florida State is just a good head coach away from being the dominant team again in the ACC. They are in the state with more elite football players than any state in the union, and notwithstanding their current coaching predicament, are committed to a winning football program. When that happens, and as long as Dabo is at Clemson, the Clemson vs Florida State rivalry will be fun to watch.

If we are going by BCS rankings as the way of ranking top 4, Texas would have been in it as they were ranked 4th in the final BCS ranking

Please answer this: If Alabama and South Carolina offer a kid the exact same amount of money (assuming your statement is correct), then who signs the recruit?

If he’s a SC born and bred kid, if his Momma wants him to stay close to home, if he buys into building something that has never been done before, if he wants an exceptional education in the process .... then he signs with South Carolina, no doubt about it.
You're dreaming! If the kid's good enough to be recruited by Alabama, he's got the NFL in his sights, and there is no straighter road leading there than through Tuscaloosa...and if he's a 5* player, he's got nearly a 50% chance of going in the first round ($$$$) under Saban!

Well seeing how he played in college at times.
Yes.
I truly believe that a number of These recruits especially the best of the best (IE Clowney) have one goal. NFL and that stardom.

College was just his stepping stone and he measures his careers success based on his NFL success
