If you read both letters involved, they hadn't reserved the whole place. And during the time that they reserved part of the restaurant, LSU fans were disallowed from dining there (see "banned") for the duration of the "alumni event" (read "game").
LSU subsequently won that game.
Very few (if any) LSU fans are "butthurt."
There's not much to it other than that.

They reserved the entire inside. Owner said they were welcome to eat on the outside dining areas. In addition, the owner made arrangements for the restaurant next door to host LSU fans that wanted to eat and watch the game.
The owner and the business did nothing wrong. The kid that wrote the letter used poor tact in communicating and that is all there really is to the story.

Nothing in either letter indicates that the entirety of the restaurant was reserved. In fact, the owner/manager letter explicitly states that alumni groups pay so that no "opposing fans" are sat with them.
I never said he did anything wrong. He has the right to refuse service to anyone.
Actually, my post was meant to point out that "LSU fans" as a whole don't actually give a shite about the business practices of one restaurant in an overrated tourist trap on the gulf coast.

ETA: If you mean in a legal sense, it wasn't remotely illegal. But from a business point of view, it was dumb of the manager to say anything beyond "This section is reserved for the Florida alumni group". No need to add anything about an unruly LSU fan or a history of LSU fans. While that makes trolltastic material here, it's plain stupid to relay such things to customers in the age of the Interwebz.

Honestly, here's what I think happened:
Don goes to restaurant. Doesn't notice that the inside is largely (or entirely for all I know) reserved for Florida alumni group. Greeter does terrible job explaining this to Don and instead focuses on his LSU hat and thinks about earlier incident involving LSU fan which of course Don knows nothing about and shouldn't need to know anything about. Greeter and manager fail at communicating that alumni group has reserved section and said alumni group gets the say on who sits in their section (same as at any restaurant or bar in the history of ever). Manager makes things far worse with letter that singles out LSU fans instead of just saying the situation was handled poorly and making clear that alumni groups have reserved sections during their game as is the case at bars/restaurants all over America.
That's my Occam's Razor interpretation of what really happened. Nobody is evil here. Harry T's doesn't hate LSU fans.
