what common sense pits #1 against a better team than the #2 team has to play?

The kind that says if Okie Light & #3 are very close, don't allow double rematches to occur. Is it really that hard?

At least Bama wouldn't have had an extra week to rest and prepare for the BCSNCG.

So. . .completely subjective eyeball tests?

Awesome.

Probably the only line of thinking that will make me yearn for the BCS.

I don't think LSU would've beat Oregon that late in the year. Oregon was clicking, LSU couldn't move the ball.

LSU's defense got better as the year went on. . .

I don't think they could have played with LSU late in the season.

LSU struggled to move the ball, sure. . .

. . .against UGA and Bama.

That's like saying. . ."your defense sucks because Peyton Manning threw for 200 yards on you!!!!"

I agree LSU would have easily beaten Oregon again. LSU had a one dimensional offense that was dominant against teams who could not stop the run, but susceptible against a strong front 7. LSU would have pounded Oregon and the LSU defense would have held Oregon to under 17.

LSU needed longer than 5 full weeks to rest and be ready for the title game?

Are you really using an extra weeks rest before the national title game as an excuse for 21-0? The title game was over a month after the SEC championship game. If anything, too much rest would be the problem. The Big Ten complained about that for years and that was one reason they added a title game. Sad.

You do have to admit that it is pretty shitty that LSU had to win the SEC Championship for the right to play for the title, against a team they had already beaten on the road.

I understand Bama won. . .they earned it. . .congratulations.

But LSU got royally fricked over from an objective perspective.

So - you think that the human element in the polls is any different than a completely subjective "eyeball" test?

LSU would have still been in the title game as long as they didn't get blown out by UGA. Had LSU lost, I think it would have been LSU and OSU in the title game.

Also you act like playing for an SEC title is punishment. It's a reward. LSU fans brag about the fact that they won the SEC title and Bama did not. So pick one. Either the SEC title is a great accomplishment you are proud of, or it was simply a bump in the road you didn't even want to play in. I would have loved if Bama could play in the SEC title, but we lost to LSU and lost that right. It still bothers me that we could not be SEC champs as well as national champs.

Are you suggesting that 2 teams having played each other should be a factor in seeding?

Does the fact that LSU and OU played early make OU a worse team than OSU?

I don't think so.

They would have said that Bama lost to a better team than LSU.

I think it was more about trying to pit the two best teams vs the best matchup(from a media standpoint)..

Yes, everyone knew Bama & LSU were by far the best, but they wanted to see LSU & OSU

No way. If LSU was 12-1 with an insanely tough SOS and a win over 11-1 Alabama with an average SOS, the polls would have overwhelmingly had LSU over Alabama and you would have seen an LSU/OSU national title game. I was cheering for LSU in the SEC game because I knew LSU losing was the only thing that could keep Bama out of the national title game. We needed you to win that game.

Except I heard from almost all experts that LSU would drop no worse than 2nd had they lost the SEC title game. LSU was going to the title game regardless of how that game ended.

I just don't buy the LSU got screwed argument. LSU went 12-0 in the regular season. They beat everybody they played and 11 of those wins were blowouts. The one game they struggled to win was against Bama. Bama went 11-1 in the regular season and of their 11 victories all of them were blowouts and they went toe to toe with the best team in the regular season. OSU lost to a crappy Iowa State team and should have lost to Texas A&M. Oregon got beat handily by LSU and lost to USC. Stanford lost to Oregon handily, struggled against Cal and should have lost to USC. Nobody got screwed and the two most deserving teams in the regular season rightfully played in the title game.

Bottom line is there is no prespective (other than a LSU fans) in which LSU got "royally fricked".

If LSU had lost to Georgia they still would have a good chance at getting in..if UGA had won by 2 TD's or more Bama would get the nod

I understand people saying that, but it still remains that LSU losing could have changed the outcome of the polls.

Experts also said that LSU would end up with at least a title split.

LSU losing to UGA had a reasonable chance of keeping them out.

Nah, LSU would have shite the bed and been shut out by Oregon.
