Hat tip to FratAU on auburn board for the research

2013 Nick Marshall 15-26 229 yards 1 TD / 0 INT
2014 Nick Marshall 11-23 142 yards 0 TD / 1 INT
2015 Jeremy Johnson 14-22 61 yards 0 TD / 1 INT
2016 Sean White 6-20 27 yards 0 TD / 1 INT
2017 Jarrett Stidham 16-23 214 yards 3 TD / 0 INT
2017 Jarrett Stidham 16-32 145 yards 1 TD / 0 INT
2018 Jarrett Stidham 24-36 163 yards 0 TD / 0 INT

If history is a guide, it looks like the key to tomorrow is squarely on Nix. Gus's 2 wins against UGA were in 2013 with Nick Marshall who had a pretty subpar game for him, it's worth nothign that we had statistically teh worst defense in school history (thanks grantham) but also had a really potent offense, neither of which apply to this year. The second was in 2017 with stidham who had a fantastic game and they really dominated from start to finish.

If Nix isn't able to control the game and play above his head, and puts up similar numbers to the rest of Gus's QBs in this series, it could be a long day for auburn.

So your analysis is that the game really comes down to how the most important position on the field performs?

Riveting.

I can't even imagine why he still played in that game..

considering most people are saying the game depends on if our plodding offense can score on your defense, I'd say this was at least a different take and somethign else to consider.

I mean truly, there's only what, like 3 or 4 different possibilities to pin the result of any game against any opponents on right?

You're not wrong but this is no time for rational discussion.

The hidden stat behind those performances is rushing yards. In the two best years (2013,2017) Auburn averaged ~270 yards rushing. Under Gus, Auburn will always live and die by the run. If we can run the ball or at least try to, the passing game will open up. UGA is the same way to an extent. Basically show me the team that has more passing attempts and I will show you the team that will likely lose the game.

This is how you lose a game without allowing the other team to score an offensive touchdown. I was frustrated in 15 when we sucked but tried to believe it was just because Johnson was a bust but this was the game I really started hating Gus and realized he had significant issues as a coach.
