Job hasn't been formally offered to Gus yet. Informally.

He has indicated he would take Thigpen with him. Big recruiting loss, but not a big on-field loss. Thigpen not great on-field from what I've heard from coaches. Incredible recruiter though.

Yep, pretty much right. Hopefully we will be able to hold all of our class this year, and still finish strong if this happens. I have no doubt in Chiz's ability to find a good replacement however.

nd look at Chris "Noodle for an Arm" Todd' s stats his senior year.. .

If he could develop the noodle arm in a spring and summer why hasn't moseley/trotter been developed in the 3 they've been under his tutelage?

O line gives Moseley no time to throw.

There's a reason Auburn is the only school that wanted Trotter & Moseley.

Moseley.

Wasn't their #1 QB in that class however. Rollins was supposed to be the guy starting this year if Cam left early.

Are these people reading 24/7 or the SEC Rant?

quote:

We always take the college football coaching rumor mill with a grain of salt but there’s one juicy piece of gossip that’s picking up steam like a runaway freight train: Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn taking the head coaching job at North Carolina.

247Sports is reporting that Malzahn is ready to accept the Tar Heels gig and those rumors are only fueled by the fact new UNC AD Bubba Cunningham came from Tulsa, where Malzahn was an offensive coordinator there from 2007-08. For his part, Malzahn did not comment on the rumors Wednesday, saying he was focused on the Tigers’ last two regular season games.

The Auburn offensive guru that led Cam Newton to a Heisman Trophy and the Tigers to a national title last fall reportedly turned down the Vanderbilt opening in the offseason for $3 million per season, but UNC is a better job for two reasons:

#1: Mack Brown and Butch Davis have both shown that coaches can win in Chapel Hill and compete for conference titles.

#2: The ACC is a whole lot easier than the SEC, which means turning around North Carolina is far less daunting.

All that being said, Auburn head coach Gene Chizik knows how valuable Malzahn is to his success and will likely be willing to unload a dump truck full of cash to keep Malzahn on The Plains.

Stay tuned.

A dump truck full of cash? They're already paying him a mid-level HC salary. How much more can they offer?

Based on the performance against UGA I'd say she may have been in Chapel Hill during the off week...
