You’d think y’all would be proud of guys like Montravious Adams, Kerryon Johnson, Tank Bigsby, Bo Nix, etc. Instead, they’re all written off with a few clicks because they don’t fit into the “Gus ruined our program” narrative. It was time to move on. But, sheesh.

The knock on Gus’s recruiting is purely that he failed at recruiting offensive linemen. He had guys that turned out to be misses at QB but it’s hard to say if that was a development issue or bad evaluation.

Dont get me wrong, I loved the attention that Gus gave to recruiting. I always knew he was going to attack recruiting hard when he needed to and this is a diss at Harsin.
But at the same time, Gus struggled at recruiting at the OL position badly. So much so that his deficiency there ruined the outlook of the team because he loves to run the football and needed road graders. There were numerous cant miss OL prospects that Gus absolutely had to have such as Broderick Jones and Trey Hill, but Gus whiffed, and Georgia landed them, thus Auburn's view of his recruiting was more pessimistic. Uneven, would be a better word. Gus did well recruiting DL, LB, and CB though so his team ended up looking well on defense.

This is exactly how Mack’s tenure ended at UT. He failed at recruiting OL. One tackle was so slow, he had to line up in a special stance to get deep enough for a pass set. It was a dead giveaway, but he had no choice. And, don’t even get me started on the interior OL. It makes our current group look like All-Americans.
That said, very few folks would claim Mack ruined anything. Overwhelmingly, most believe he helped build our program.
