It never stopped working. Playing scary defense and tearing the heart out of opponents with a brutal running game never broke LSU. BAMA did. Ironically, BAMA did it playing exactly like a Les Miles team. Great defense and "making their azz quit."
In 2015 undefeated LSU came to BDS with Heisman favorite Fournette averaging over 192 yards a game. The Playoff Committee was already voting them in the 4 team poll. So it was very late in the season. They lost a tough and brutal game to a great BAMA team that had Derrick Henry. Who went on to win another NC.
I’m not denying that Bama was a great team, but a lot of LSU’s failures were self inflicted. The inability to do anything different on offense had big effects on LSU’s chances of beating Bama. Especially in Miles last few seasons.

Strange thing to be thinking about at 3:51 AM. I'm sorry your life has reached this point.

But LSU fans have lost perspective of just how scary the program was under Les Miles. And nationally, not just the West Division. Which was total murder.
Les Miles beat ALABAMA 5 times in 12 seasons. Kirby Smart has beaten ALABAMA 1 time in 8 years.
LSU, by being in the meanest, nastiest division in college football for the last decade and a half had much higher expectations than Georgia. Not even in the same hemisphere for pure hate and animosity. Or the quality of football talent. The fans hated BAMA because of Nick Saban's change of address and being in the West and this rivalry went nuclear every season with the "The Saban Bowl."
Mark Richt got to hide in the East and only lost to Nick Saban twice. Kirby was at least getting to the SECCG most years before getting beat by BAMA. LSU and BAMA didn't have that privilege. LSU fans and Georgia fans are completely different when it comes to expectations and playing ALABAMA in football.
They still are. That's why Les Miles was gone in 2016.

The crazy part was if we would have just stayed focus and didn’t give up on games after the Bama game, we could have finished 11-1 and still be in the mix.

Why does he hate South Carolina lol? I'm genuinely curious.

That's it. But BAMA lost to Utah after getting beat by Florida in the 2008 SECCG. BAMA's heart wasn't in it against Oklahoma in 2013 when we lost out on another Playoff with the Kick vs the barn. That's football, a rough game of pure emotion.
Les Miles went 5-7 against BAMA. One BAMA win was in 2009 in Tuscaloosa when Patrick Peterson's foot was out of bounds on the interception. One BAMA win was in BR in OT in 2008 with John Parker Wilson. Another BAMA win was in 2012 in the last seconds in BR with the Blitz and screen. Do LSU fans even realize these days just how dam close these games were under Les Miles? They were near-death experiences for both fan bases.
With just a few different breaks, Les Miles could easily have a winning record.

LSU actually won in 2010. That was a wild year for LSU. A lot of games could have gone either way. It wasn’t until 2015 where the difference between LSU and Bama became noticeable. After that, it was all Bama until 2019. I don’t really count 2020 and 2021. We were just bad. Although, we somehow almost managed to win in 2021. Which is wild.

Is that really fair to Les Miles? He didn't coach most of the 2016 season. The LSU hierarchy tried to fire Les after the 2015 season. They might as well. He was a dead man walking in 2016. LSU goes to Lambeau Field and loses a tough and tight game to Wisconsin on a dumb play by an LSU player. Even more amazingly, the first time Les Miles lost to an OOC team during the regular season in 12 years. They go to Auburn and supposedly win in the last seconds only to be told they didn't and lost and Les Miles was fired. Those losses were not getting your azz run off the field. And it was a little amazing when you think about the fact that LSU's hierarchy quit supporting Les in 2015 and just wanted him gone. The 2016 team knew that, the LSU fans knew it, even BAMA fans knew that, and this guy for all he gave was dumped like he was Ed Orgeron. He was NOT.
And even worse, that's the way most LSU fans seem to remember Les Miles despite those magnificent teams he put on the field. Why can I say that? Les is trying to get his wins back and the same sorry azz hierarchy that fired Les wouldn't raise their little pinky to fight for some great, great purple wins. LSU hierarchy is the same backbiting 2015 losers and they frankly still sux and are too stupid to fight for what they earned on the field.
Les Miles deserves better from the school and from the college HOF. And that's coming from a BAMA fan. He was too dam good for this.

Eli Gold owns 50 condos in NC and Florida does espn provide that. I was told he makes millions a year off just rent. He did this off networking with boosters. Eli makes more every 2 weeks than McElroy does a year.
I work in real estate. Would you care to guess how many 70 year old men I work with compared to guys in their mid 30s? It is about a 15 to 1 ratio. It is almost like the 70 year old guys have have about 4 times their adult life to accumulate wealth and build a business that typically grows in an exponential manner.

Miles had some off the field issues as well that certain higher ups were involved in that bit him in the arse. I’ll let you research that on your own.
I don’t hate Miles, and I think for the most part he did a great job, but it became apparent that he couldn’t beat Saban, and he wasn’t willing to change his approach. Sometimes change is a good thing. We ended up winning it all and had a phenomenal season later on, and I like where we are as a program today. I think BK is doing a good job.

Les had them there, again. By the way, BAMA's defense completely shut down LSU's offense in the 4th quarter in that game. I mean completely cut off the water. So even if the refs changed the call, driving the field for the win late in the game was far from happening. The 2009 BAMA team just loved the closed games and the defense knew how to win them. Like 14-0 good.

If not for 2019 are you saying that? Really? I mean that is all you have to be proud of since Les Miles grazed on the sidelines. That was 8 years ago. And Special Ed was just that and you know he was never the measure of Les Miles's football teams. Brian Kelly is not that guy. He can't get past his OOC schedule without coughing it up. (Again, 12 years, no OOC loss guys)
