This too is true. The talent is holding us back FAR MORE than the system. I believe a pressing, trapping system of defense and a fast breaking motion offense can still work when you have all the right parts. We have no parts. BJ Young is all we got. Great shooter, but I have not seen anyone who can play defense the way it should be played on one of MA/NR's teams.

Look. I get it. You think MA was the right hire based on what he has done and his history with us.

I think MA was the wrong hire because of what I have seen in the sec the last 20 years.

You want to recapture 40 minutes of hell and win.

I wanted us to move in a totally different direction and wIn.

So the good news is we both want to win. We just happen to disagree on how we get there. The next 4 years will reveal whether Long made the rIght call.

oh nonsense

if haith gets to the elite 8 with missouri this year he will be the fourth consecutive missouri coach to reach the elite 8 (stewart, snider, and anderson being the prior three and stewart did it multiple times)

he is a solid coach but...

1) MU never finished better than 3rd with him as head coach -norm stewart won the big 8 8 times in the regular season and another 6 times in the conf tourney

2) stewart overall at mizzou had a .656 record (winning 634 of 967 games) and a .601 conference record (winning 270 of 449 games)

3) anderson overall at mizzou had a .660 record (winning 111 of 168 games) and a .537 conference record (winning 43 of 80 games)

arkansas fans love to blow up the MA best overall record stat but have conveniently ignored this was probably an ooc cupcake scheduling effect and his conference winning percentage at missouri was not much over 50%.

And I'm not saying any of this as a shot at Arkansas - I'm just weirded out by the strange obsession a contingent of loser Arkansas fans seem to have with talking down the Missouri program as if that makes their new coach a success at his new job.

Norm Stewart had to stay there something like 93 years to get that many.

You probably are picking up on some irritation on Hog fans' part from having to hear from Missouri fans and media that Mike is a bad person, a traitor, and a liar. None of which he is. The whole thing started off poorly when some Columbia tv station sent some goon whore to pester Coach A at his introductory press conference in Fayetteville. The bad blood toward Coach A has not stopped throughout the season either. Each bit of praise for Missouri and Haith comes with an accompanying and seeming mandatory dose of pettiness directed at MA, generally along the lines of, "They were undisciplined and unhappy last year, but now they are the greatest." I know this to be absolutely true because I live in a large media market in Big 12 country, and their call-in shows have been polluted with this since Missouri got off to its hot start. I think most of us would prefer Missouri enjoy their nice season without feeling the need to insult a good man who did a lot for their school in the process. It would be refreshing to hear one of them acknowledge the good the man did for their program and move on without a parting shot at him.

Went out throwing a game-winning TD on his last play as a Hog. So he's got THAT going for him. Which is nice.

Dammit. I could have SWORN I got a memo a few weeks back that we can't use that one any more. Our talking points are officially:

1. Wait till next year
2. Don't move the Thanksgiving LSU game to another weekend
3. Don't bring up the GSD
4. Bobby Petrino may be a prick, but he's OUR prick, and besides, who else could win here as much as he does?
5. We DID SO win the National Championship in 64.

NS coached at Missouri for 32 years and won the regular season title 8 times - that's an average of once every four years

The implication from some retard Arky flamers around here has been that Missouri is a place where MA took the program to unprecedented levels of success - a claim which is misleading at best. Norm Stewart was more succesful for a longer period of time. And if we just want to point to the elite 8 appearance as a hallmark of MA success then you have to do the same for Quin Snider.

None of that has been a real problem on this board. The overwhelming majority of what I've seen has been Arky fans trolling Missouri fans on here or their home boards.

I think that's just you having rabbit ears. If a new coach takes over and the program has a success this is the automatic story line 95 times out of 100

I think everyone's antennas went up when the gal from the Columbia tv station ambushed what should have been Mike's big day. Created a lot of resentment. And, like I said, I used to listen to a lot of a guy named Nick Wright on the radio, and I say this without hyperbole - he seldom can go a segment talking about Missouri's success without taking a wide open dig at Mike Anderson. Missouri alum Pat Forde has been similar throughout the year in his tweets. He is known to send out tweets along the lines of..."This year's team is winning the close ones they were losing last year. Coaching!" Saw that one and several like it throughout the year.

I know Coach A didn't blaze the only trail at Missouri, but for Missouri fans to discount the good he did for the program because he bolted for a program they feel is inferior to theirs, is just as petty and wrong.

You need to put away the rabbit ears

They are having a 100% normal reaction to having a team that is much better than it was last year. If you expect to hear anything good about a coach who bolted (to a similar job at a potential rival) the previous season then I just don't know if I've ever heard any examples of that ever happening - esp not when the team then improves immediately after his departure.

I'm sure it pisses you off hearing people say they think missouri has been as good of a program as arkansas historically. FWIW I agree that is wrong - although I don't consider Arkansas elite they are a better program historically than Missouri by some margin.

But we're seeing more than that around here IMO. We aren't just seeing Arky fans pointing out yes they have been better... in typical fashion for this board they just troll constantly and act like 12 year olds with small dick insecurities
