yeah.. this happened early in the season with someone and that explanation came up. No waving whatsoever, as it's considered a fair catch. Don't remember which game it was now.

no, they just commented that it wasn't above his head. But the rule is any waving like that can at all be interpreted as a fair catch means that the play is dead. It's a good rule, and prevents return men from getting smoked on weak fair catch signals.
