Just a few things I noticed wrong in this thread.

1- From 33-63, Alabama had a record of 17-9-1 against GT
2- Alabama did play MSU in Mississippi, but MSU wanted the games to be in Jackson. Now you are right that before WWII Alabama and State played a lot in Alabama.

GT was a good team in the SEC, but they were not the only one

Becoming independent killed Tech. They only left because the SEC wouldn't limit scholarships that Bear Bryant and the like were abusing when players weren't good enough. Then after Tech left, the limit on scholarship was put in place. I think Tech would have been good today if they remained in the SEC. Sucks they wouldn't let Tech back into the SEC.

I'd just be in a predicament since if Tech comes back to the SEC since I'm an alumnus of both Texas and Tech while growing up a LSU fan.

Pepper Rodgers and Bear Bryant.

Tech left pre-Pepper.

There was a Holt incident that sort of was the straw that broke the camels back.

Dodd thought scholarships should be honored for 4 years. Bryant did not.
