Again, some have gotten by but it is rare. As a former HS football coach, I can tell you that I have watched this from the front lines for all of my career. Probably the most well known recruitment in our area was Jerrod Douglas of Judson HS. His 8th grade year, he was at a Corbett MS- a feeder for Clemens HS. Judson saw him kicking a$$ and offered his mother (a custodian in Clemens ISD) a clerical job at Judson with a nice raise. He then went to Judson, a Texas powerhouse football team and led them to 2 state titles in the 90's. The move immediately became controversial. Opponents alleged that the job offer to his mother was an inducement to get Douglas to transfer to Judson. The UIL investigated, and Douglas was initially ruled ineligible for a period of time. The case dragged on before a state district judge overturned the suspension. The rest is history.
